For all the people who took the tallship ride at Marauderville X this is what the mouth of the river looked like as Sandy passed through Michigan. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/500/311162_484723621567554_3710993 61_n.jpg (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/22057)

Holey Moley !!! Man, that would have been a wild ride !!! ;) The lake looks pretty angry there. Hard to believe that is 800 miles inland from where it made landfall in New Jersey.

In years past ocean going freighters were not allowed on the Great Lakes as they were not built strong enough for the wicked waves that the Great Lakes can create.

I was very young when this happened...but the song has always been a favorite of mine. Pretty sobering to listen to the whole thing and hear the actual recordings from the night it happened. RIP to the crew...
