I lived about 3 miles away from the Hockenheimring in Germany for 3 years (as the crow flies). When the Formula 1 cars were racing, I could hear them from my house. Must be that high RPM whine. They were loud at that distance. Can't imagine being right there.

Close to 20,000 rpm at 3.5 liters would be a bit loud. lol.:)

I loved waking up at 7AM on Sundays for F1.

It was quite the weekend here in the central Texas area...approx 117,000 at the race yesterday.
I think we could hear them all in Wimberley...sorta.
