View Full Version : Marauder hero!

DOOM

Just wondering if you guys had one?

My marauder hero is DEFYANT (Charlie)

Before I even owned a marauder or even knew about this site I was in love with this silver birch marauder!

I remember watching Charlie's burnout video over and over and over again!

Watching the DEFYANT smoke show and  the whole time with Metallica (fuel) playing! Then when I saw that MARYLAND DEFYANT tag I was like oh ****!!!

That's what really made me want to get my marauder!!!

This guy is in my neck of the woods! And shortly after getting my marauder I met the man in person! Capital raceway cheesehead bob and DEFYANT were both at the track! :banana2:

Both cars were awesome in person!

DEFYANT YOU ARE THE REASON MY MARAUDER IS WHAT IT IS TODAY! :bows:

Charlie look at what you're responsible for!

Just wondering if you guys had one?

Can't just pick one ... but I do have a FANTASTIC FOUR. ;)

1. merc --- met at the Capitol Expo Center, Chantilly, VA in March 2004. He introduced me to CAM, started my membership, and the rest is history.

2. martyo --- keeping track of his "Legal Knievel" MM build was great entertainment during my early membership.

3. Jerry Barnes --- watching the Trilogy numbers grow over the years and seeing the state of the possible during Mountain Dew bets on ETs.

4. Shermanator --- Met Sherm at a Prince William Cruisers night in September 2006 along with merc (Sherm had one of the rare fast DTRs back then). Have been fascinated with the performance of his cars ever since.

Honorable mention to Haggis, Joe Walsh, DEFYANT, and DOOM as sidekicks to the Superheros. :D

Motorhead350 (Dom) for pioneering (although not successfully), the first FlexFuel Marauder. :D

I knew then that an unmodded Marauder really is gay.

Then came the mods.

1)Doom-Fell in love with his(your) car on youtube. I had the privilege of meeting Jake at a MM meet near Baltimore. Very pleasant guy. He set me up with another member who I then bought my Marauder from.
2)Shermanator/blown3.8- Went down to Virginia to check out the Marauder he had for sale. What a clean, and well taken care of car. Took the car for the first drive and was impressed at its performance, that's when Sherman politely stated "you haven't even gunned it yet" lol. Needless to say that day,I took home my Marauder. His son knows a great deal of the Marauder(and I'm sure a lot of other automobiles). Even had the pleasure of seeing doom at their shop.
3)Seneca- Has installed my sway bars, and performed the j-mod on my tranny. Great guy,and I consider him a good friend. Very knowledgeable.

Bottom line, if you own and care for a Marauder...you are my hero!

But my absolute Super Hero is my one and only Eric (Mr. Man) who told me I needed to get a Marauder way back in 2003...and made sure I did! I love you Mr. (Super) Man!!!!!

Before i even begin to list those below who have already spoken--i must say first and foremost--todd fisher (taf) --without him -who i met first in jan'03 --and his friendship and knowledge and encouragement i would not be where i am with the car and the friends i have met--who are just about everyone here it seems-----anyway-- here goes --

Then there is Sgt.Mac-- where would we be without him---he was our "mule" for just about everything--he and Zack--their Mac and Zack control arms--why theyar still pulling strong on both sides of my MM---the list is long but those 3 are at the top---

^^^^^^ all of the above, plus i need to add one more to the list to make mine complete, and that would be you, charlie!

We have to pick one? Zack. Fabricator, speed demon, blue Marauder, crazy mu****a, perfectionist, twisted sense of humor, etc. etc. I have other folks I admire since I joined but through all the highs and lows of this world wide web that is mercurymarauder.net, I remember him the longest, and have probably seen him and spent more time with him than everyone else. Reading his posts back in the day on how to do things with a Marauder was like an after school special; someone had a dilemma that they just could not solve, and after everyone talked about it, he would fix it, and there would be hapiness in the end. (Sexual innuendo implied on purpose.)

Everyone on here is pretty much a hero in some sense. I've learned alot about my car thru the members when I posted a question or searched. The mods lists, the where to buy, the who to see etc. Seen alot of badazz cars from clean and factory spec to blown, twinscrewed, whippled and more. I found a shop/member to install my centri vortech, read plenty of things to LMAO, made some people laugh their azz off and all around good commarderie amongst us. Glad to be a part of it all.

Mac & Tom.... Thank you for the props... It is an honor and a privilege:bows: I will endeavor to always be as you have described and more. I am a much better person for knowing you both.....

I have to agree that a Defyant video was what first got me thinking a Marauder might be an option for me (Thanks Charlie)... I was going to buy a 2003 Cobra, and came home with a Marauder instead....... It was a watershed moment for me.

As far as people go? The Southern Marauders back in 2006 offered hospitality I have never come across..... TAF, Bill, David, George,
Mike S. and Glenn taking me under their wing and introducing me to their Marauder connects/contacts like Scott Levine, Aric Carrion, Jason Adams, and Jerry Barnes who all welcomed me in...... It was amazing..... A big shout out to Tallboy who when we met, threw me the keys to his Trilogy within a minute of our intial handshake...... Friggin amazing and really set the hook in my gills (so to speak:D.... I hold him, Hotrauder and TAF personally responsible for more than a few of my tickets hehehe.... There was a time when mischif had those 3's intials all over it, and it was fun!).

Paul Casey... What more can ya say... He's an F'n legend... Been on more dragstrips than John Force and never missed an opportunity to mark territory on behalf of the Marauder nation:bows: A car guys, car guy through and through.

Chris Wright....... I could offer a list.... We met because of a car... Now that is just a component of our friendship... Honor counts... Not as a ranking who is better or more virtuous for status sake, but as a measure of living by a code... This may be a difficult concept to appreciate for folks who have never bothered to identify a "code" to live by/up too. Chris has, and seeing his work, has taught me alot about myself... To hell & back with a smile for you bud... Why? Because I know he would do it for me...

So yea... When I got into this thing of ours, it was all about the car.... It quickly shifted (for me at least) to be all about the great people I have met on this ride. Brad, Rex, Willie, Jay, MartyO & Jeff, Jim M. Larry ect.... Hero's? Your all heros to me. Looking forward to more. Some will be in our cars.... Most will be the sharing of good times with all of you.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Zack. Dude has pioneered so many things and blazed trails nobody here would've thought of. Even though he's still banned here, he is still building and innovating on his own cars.......and helping others. Mine would still be in the garage, NOT RUNNING, if he hadn't posted a repair thread with pictures, and then been willing to pick up the phone whenever I needed someone to talk me through the job. I know he's ruffled feathers in the past and I know some of you don't like him, but I owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

2. This site as a whole! And everyone on it (past and present).

Joining this site has taught me so much about these cars;
and above all;
the people on here are unbelievably helpful and willing to share knowledge and ideas with everyone else. Purchasing things on here, has been nothing but pleasant from my experiences. Jokes and "nudges" can be passed back 'n' forth between people who have never met.

I have two heroes; I was in the market to replace my '95 SHO back in 2004 and looked at a Caddy STS, Maxima, Altima SE-R.... and then Tom (MarauderTJA) rolls into my stereo shop in a silver Marauder w/ a sunroof and I was sold. I asked for dibs "if he ever sold it" and was told to find my own, he wasn't gonna sell. I put a word in to the local Lincoln/Mercury dealer here and found a genius technician Claude (Carfixer) and put a little bug in his ear with no real intention of purchasing a near $40K car. But what the hell, "if you ever see a silver/sunroof let me know blah blah..." Well Claude never forget and 11 months later I get an email with an AutoTrader link for the Marauder I have now in Hialeah. I went and bought it in October '05 with 13K on the odometer and learned every nut and bolt, every wire, all the tips and tricks here with the help of all of you. I wanna be a hero someday too! The car is 12 years old and has 44K on the odometer and there's nothing I haven't taken apart, replaced, changed or made better.

Well I haven't on here for long but I have been over on CVN for what feels like forever. My plan was always to get a Crown Vic, never in my dreams did I even think about owning a Marauder one day, that just seemed too far out of reach.

Over on CVN I guess my Marauder hero would have been a_d_a_m he was one of the few people with Marauders on there so I could drool over his car.

A few years later must have been about 2011/12ish I can't remember exactly I attended an American car show up in the Hamburg area and randomly stumbled across my first Marauder in real life which made my jaw drop, I didn't even knew those things existed over here. I spoke to the owner who turned out to be our former member Coupe (Michael) so he would be on my list as well.

After knowing you could actually import them here I knew I wanted one and it was just a case of saving up money. Michaels car actually ended up being for sale a few years as his family grew bigger he replaced it with a Navigator but I still didn't have the right funds for it at the time so it went to my now Marauder friend Achim so I think he should also be on this list as he owns the only other Marauder in my state now and being relatively close to me we often meet up.

After getting my own Marauder I've met several great people, I think WhatsUpDOHC and martyo should be mentioned for helping me out with parts here.
Then there is Dereck in England and Esilar in Berlin who also share my passion for these cars over here in Europe.

And I'm sure this list will expand as time goes on as there are still a few Marauder owners around Europe that I am keen to meet one day.

I'd have to say Bob, Zack and Bradley.

Bradley gave me the keys to his car while at the Webber Grill meet. Never met him before the meet. But he insisted I drive his Trilogy Marauder like I stole it.

And Bob and Zack for their influences on mods and knowledge of the cars along with their friendships.

It's all been priceless.

Sent from The White House on taxpayers dimes.

Thanks Curt. You're my hero too!

My first hero has to be Mary as she was the first person I met from the forum at the very first Marauderville down in Texas. So many along the way; Mac, Zack, Marty, Sherm, Carfixer, Tallboy, and anyone who will sit down and play Cards Against Humanity in a hotel lobby ( you know who you are!), and those that help dye hair blue (you know who YOU are too!)

Thanks to all the rest.
