Interior clicking noise

You know the sound your auto light switch makes when the lights click on? I have noticed the same sound inside my car lately regardless of the position of the light switch. The lights do not come on unless the switch is set to "auto". Everything works as it should.

You just hear the "click" inside the dash once in while.... :confused:

My '04 MM does the same thing. So did my '03 Grand Marq. Would love to know what it is...

So the only way your lights turn on is when it's turned to auto? Turning them on "manually" will no longer turn them on?

I think what you mean is this sound will happen at random no matter what. Usually this is due to weather conditions or driving into a dark area... like a garage or tunnel.

If it's the same sound I am thinking of, I believe this is your car "thinking" if you had auto mode on it would now turn your lights on. Mine would do this when I already had the headlights on or sometimes when I would go under a bridge. The only time they would go on when in the off position is in the rain and then they cannot be turned off until the car is off.

When you hear the click your headlights probably turned on even in the off position. The easiest way to notice is looking at how bright your clock or radio is. If you have an 04 or 300B it won't be as easy to tell if you ride along without your radio off.

That happened to me once. It sounds like it was coming from the LCM.

I have also heard this noise. It does sound as if it's coming from the LCM, and it sounds to me like a switch or relay.
