Looks like Ford will be doing more than just a "face lift" of the Panther line for the 2006 model.
Delphi to Provide Electrical Architecture Support for Ford's Long-Running Trio of Full-Size Luxury Cars
Electrical Systems Expertise Brought to Automaker's Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Town Car Offerings
February 17, 2004 -- Warren, Ohio -- Beginning in 2004, Delphi (NYSE: DPH) will provide the complete electrical distribution system for Ford Motor Company's stable of full-size, rear-wheel-drive vehicles -- the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car -- and will be playing a major role in supporting the automaker's continued efforts to refine what are already industry hallmarks of luxury and comfort.
It marks Delphi's continued drive to bring comprehensive electrical architecture solutions and expertise to Ford, doing so on a passenger car platform that's been a mainstay in its vehicle lineup for years, and one that gives the manufacturer a distinct advantage in a unique vehicle segment.
"Ford has been successfully coming to market in this segment with a choice of three nameplates that, while somewhat different in their makeup, are all very strong values for consumers seeking affordable luxury and distinction," said George Kralovich, director of global sales at Delphi Packard Electric. "Ford has established a very loyal customer base with those virtues, and we look forward to playing a key part in Ford's effort to satisfy consumers and bring new buyers into the fold."
Steve Duca, director of global engineering at Delphi Packard Electric, said that the ability to meet Ford's target of bringing refreshed and enhanced versions of the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Town Car to consumers next year was critical for the automaker. Also key was Delphi's capability to provide robust electrical distribution system solutions to help ensure these vehicles' traditionally high levels of durability and reliability.
"There are many options and considerations involved in optimizing a vehicle's electrical architecture. Our team was able to provide Ford with a system that was optimized across the full range of options and features for these vehicles," Duca said, noting as an example of special needs the special requirements of high- and rugged-use applications (the Ford Crown Victoria is a perennial best-selling favorite of police and fire departments in North America).
"Another critical part of our efforts to exceed Ford's expectations is the value we bring through our on-site engineering support at both their design center in Dearborn and their vehicle assembly plants," Duca continued. "Our focus is on 'installed' quality. Full-service suppliers are expected to do this, and help vehicle manufacturers provide value to their customers.
