As an early Christmas gift to myself, I splurged on a ticket to see The Who at Mohegan Sun tonight. They played their second Rock Opera called Quadrophenia. Its name comes from the schizophrenia and the four distinct personalities of Jimmy, the opera's protagonist. It had something to do with growing up as a teenager in Britain during the 60s I think.

The last half hour or so they played the songs that everybody knows. "Who Are You", "Pinball Wizard", "Baba O'Reilly", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Behind Blue Eyes".

It was amazing. One of the best shows that I've ever been to. The only one that may have topped it was Aerosmith two years ago.

Jealous, though I'd really prefer to go to a Who show where they play Odds And Sods in its entirety. I don't need any of the hits, just that album + a 10 minute version of Young Man Blues.

I saw the Who perform at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit in the late 60's. A great show mostly works from the Tommy album. Joe Cocker and the Grease Band was the warm-up act. Those were the days. My car was broken into and my 8 track stolen.

I saw the Who perform at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit in the late 60's. SUPER JEALOUS. Would have killed to have seen the MC5, or Iggy & The Stooges, in their natural environment. Damn.

He died in 2008:

I was surprised to read that it was so long ago. Seems more recent.
