Hey Guy's hope you can give me a lay out of some kind that will tell me if I can use the rims I just got from the junk yard. . I have a post on Crown vin.net as well.

I have 2 busted steel rims that are on my 2000 p71 with the 12 hole 5 lug steel wheels all are the same. So I went to the junk yard and got 4 P71 steel rims that have the 7 hole 5 lug set up. I think it came off a 2003 p71 I could not find out the year it came off of they were off the car when i got there. I paid about 150.00 for all for.

my question is will they fit on my 2000 P71?? and what center caps/lugs do i need to fit??

thanks for reading

thanks guys

2003 is the year they changed suspension so the 2003+ rim would need a hubcentric spacer to run on a pre-2003 car. The 7 hole/slotted ones are alos the rims that were recalled to "in service" p71 due to poor welds causing air leaks. Are these the sort of 'flat faced" rims?

No you really can't use 2003+ wheels on a 2002 or older car. The newer vehicles use a high offset 45-50mm depending on the exact wheel while the earlier cars use a 0-10mm offset. So the late model wheels will be sitting about 2" further in and will likely rub, at least in the front, as well as it messes up your steering geometry and will cause your front wheel bearings to wear out prematurely.

Also to add..they don't need to be P71 rims..they were the same for the crown vics and grand marquis that had steel wheels under the wheel covers. Are you near Northampton, Warehem, Lowell, tewksbury,Walpole or Summerville, MA?

The parts of mass you listed are not that far why what's up ? You know of any places that may have a set ? Of the not recalled rims . I going to call the junk yard to see if they can swap them out .

Yes, i would see if they can take them back or swap them since they are the wrong offset. However, according to car-part.com the following shows available

Highway Auto Salvage - Northampton, MA (2) 2000 vic $50 ea
Robertson Auto Salvage - Warehem, MA (5) 2000 marquis $50 ea
Atlantic used truck and salvage - Lowell, MA (10) 98-2002 vic $50 ea
penney's auto - Tewksbury, MA (16) 98-2000 various $50ea
Henry;s Auto Blackstone, MA (4) 2000 marquis $40ea
GAW auto parts - Walpole, MA (5) 2000 vic $35 ea
Nissenbaum's Auto Sumerville, MA (5) 99-2000 vic..no price

There are other places too..these listed the most ( the number in ( ) so you could choose the better ones. Alos most places will negotiate a little, especially when buying more than one. When I had my vic, I bought 4 for $30 ea when they listed for $40 ea.
