I'm disappointed, Dom. Thought you'd delve a little deeper...

New Bomb Turks - "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f3pZJPXGOQ (yes, a Darlene Love cover)
Solomon Burke - "Presents For Christmas" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHXZulVHo3U
Mojo Nixon - "Trim Yo' Tree" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L1aQ0XqAls

And let's not forget the Jive Turkeys' "Get Down Santa" 45, both the A and B sides!
A ("Get Down Santa"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBkV-gmyr7w
B ("Funky Jesus"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaOB9ovKm64

That's what she said...

Now, the cover song was interesting, but the Dion references in the end were really cool! Solomon was nice and smooth, loved it. Mojo is a crazy man, good stuff.

I wish I could have cruised to those songs in a Delta 88.

That was a cool Punk song, especially when the Dead Kennedys influence kicks in.

Please send us... or me info if I can listen live on-line. I will listen! Last edition of Music To Break Things By airs Friday, January 4th from 6:30pm to 2:30am on the 5th (8hrs). That's on Cleveland time, so I think subtract an hour for Chicago.

Facebook: www.facebook.com/musictobreakthingsby
88.7FM in Cleveland, www.wjcu.org worldwide for the webcast.

I have a Johnny Ramone interview AND a Wayne Kramer (MC5) interview on minidisc I might try to air portions of, as well as some other archived stuff. We have 8hrs to do whatever we want with. Who in the hell knows what'll happen.

I forgot about Johnny, I am super jealous you got to meet him. Sounds like the station is going off the air or bought out?.... are you simply moving on? Wayne Kramer must have been great too. Hell, sounds like the final night will be quite a party!

Hell, sounds like the final night will be quite a party! They were both phone interviews. Johnny agreed to a half hour. We got him for an hour on the air, and then talked to him for 2 hours after that off the air! He talked about all sorts of stuff. It was great. I haven't heard those interviews since the year they were recorded, 10 years or more now. I remember Wayne being kind of standoffish and not wanting to talk about Fred "Sonic" Smith or his time in the penitentiary for the drug charges, or about his time with Johnny Thunders and Gang War. It seemed like he just wanted to talk about how cool Rob Tyner was and what new project he was working on at the time.

The station is alive and well, I'm just moving on. I will fill in once in awhile but the show will not be a regular part of the schedule any more.

Now I am really getting envious. :alone:

Johnny Ramone seemed like a cool guy if you knew how to speak to a guy like that, anyone else would think he's an a-hole. I kept trying to get Marky to let me speak to him before he died, it never happened.

On the air, it was a pretty basic interview. I was still pretty new then, and didn't know what kind of questions to ask - and was afraid I'd piss him off. Now I wouldn't care. I think we did delve a little into the Phil Spector stuff, and maybe asked him about Connie Ramone or being chased by foreign fans and the difference between them and Americans...but nothing super deep. I think we talked about Cleveland and how he had seen an Indians game.

Off the air, he was way more open, talked freely about the beef between the band, about all the members individually.

He liked baseball cards and being Republican.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I heard one on the radio the other day that starts off with "I got an STD for Christmas"...The whole song is about his cheating ex. I can't find a link to it anywhere so I'm starting to think that it may have been a local musician being broadcasted for the first time. I almost crashed my car from laughing so hard.

Changing the topic for guys like Phil and Johnny is never a problem.

Not a rare Christmas song ... but the MOST popular and recognizable Christmas song EVER. "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby introduced in the 1942 movie "Holiday Inn". The movie "White Christmas" came out in 1954. The song has sold over 50 Million copies as a "single" and many countless more in albums. Remember those???

I can't listen to this song without a rush of happy memories from my Christmases in the '50s and '60s.
