View Full Version : Usual Suspects for an Oil Leak??

Marauder started marking it's spot. Isn't due for an oil change, so shouldn't be dripping from over fill or spill. Been too cold to crawl under her the last couple of days, but will probably get to this week. Will check the low hanging fruit first (drain plug bolt, oil filter, gasket). Has 80K miles on it.

Just curious if anyone had any experience with oil leaks on the Marauder motor for an idea where to look.

Thanks!
Cheers!!

Most common leak is the oil filter adapter gasket.

It's funny. I searched the threads for oil leak, leak, etc and turned up nothing. When I posted my thread it gave me a list of 5 threads where people talked about the oil filter adapter gasket. Seems like the common culprit.

Thanks for the heads up!

These engines are sealed pretty darn good and the primary suspect would be the filter or adapter as already mentioned!! Make sure it's motor oil before going on the hunt!!

Mine has almost 245K miles on it and no leaks yet.....KNOCKING WOOD!!:bows::rolleyes:

GOOD LUCK finding it!!

What side of the car is it on?

Could be the little gasket/seal on the oil pan bolt. Pretty common for those to start leaking.

Front drivers side of the engine would be this most likely, when it lets go most people have had to add 2 quarts of oil back in.

Yeah $10 @carquest but be advised u will lose some coolant as well. the modular motors 2v 3v 4v 4.6 and 5.4 are all bad for this
