Another milestone. 44 years with my 1964 Ford Galaxie. Purchased 1969.

Car now has 215,782 miles, 2,882 miles on the new 390 motor.

2011: installed new rebuilt 390

2012: new seat covers

2013: nothing planned (yet)

Next year's the big one; car turns 50, and 45 years of ownership.

Very nice, I love the high mileage too. No sense leaving it home in the garage!

Sweet!

I had a '64 Galaxie convertible back in the early '70s, mine wasn't nearly as nice as yours, had bench seats and a 289, but still loved the car.

Fantastic ride...my mom had a '63 and I tried and tried to get her to get a '64 when they came out...loved the changes that big car had that year. Congrats to the both of you for going a great distance..hope there is plenty more to experience too.

Orig paint/interior?

Repainted original color, Pagoda green, in the early 80's.

Car started out as a Galaxie 500, two tone turquoise bench seats, column auto, 352/4V-250 hp, 3:1 rear.

Converted to a 500XL in the 80's.

Pulled black buckets, console, and front door panels from a wrecked 2 dr hardtop. Converted column to floor shift.

Puilled rear 500XL seat frame, speaker chrome, and rear side panels from a junkyard red convt; repainted the side panels black. Took the hardtop black rear seatcover and had it cut down to fit the convert.

In 2011, went for a new rebuilt 390/300 hp (rear was changed to a 3:50 thirty years ago).

Last year, finally went for new 500XL seat covers, front/rear.

That is pretty awesome! Congrats! I work with a guy who is pretty much retired but he still works 3 days a week and is 70. He has a original 1962 Impala 409 with only 30,000 miles that he bought new and he just celebrated 50 years of ownership. It is virtually like a time capsule.

Thanks, guys. Appreciate the comments. "Thumbs up" are one of the great things about owning an old car.

The car actually looks better now than in the pictures. Since they were taken, I did a hand polishing compound and double wax job on the 1980's repaint.

(I only did the hood/trunk, and upper doors/quarters. Might give the sides a shot in the spring, but compounding/polishing sides are a real PITA compared to the upper panels.)

Car now shines like new (almost).

That is pretty cool! Which one of you is holding up better? Granted the Galaxie has had a repaint and I'm guessing you haven't :)

I'm definitely holding up better.

I still have all my original 1943 parts.:)

Sweet! My folks had one when I was youngster, white with a black drop top. Loved that car. Even if the water pump took a dump on the way to the Jersey shore. Not fun for my dad who had to borrow tools and work on his vacation. If you ever ponder selling it.... :D

Awesome! Whats the little pouch? Washer fluid?

Yup.

Washer fluid, but I doubt if the pump still works.

I never use the car in conditions when the windshield might get dirty.
