Was browsing through September 2003 Motor Trend magazine and came across an article about a 2003 Marauder VT.

"Buyers can choose from three engine-upgrade combinations: a Paxton-supercharged stock V-8, a naturally aspirated stroker V-8, or a stroked and blown V-8..........hi-flow cats.....matted to a custom 2.5" stainless steel dual exhaust system.....BAER braking system, 14" rotors cross-drilled......"
03 MM: 0-60 in 7.7.....1/4 mile 15.61 @ 93.52...braking 60ft = 137ft
03 VT: 0-60 in 5.1......1/4 mile 13.42 @ 104.23..braking 60ft = 129ft

hmmmmmmm...aside from the 3 engine upgrade choices......the rest of the upgrades are almost equivalent to the mods we are putting on ours....

But the Marauder VT adds an additional $30K to the base sticker price!!!!!

But that also includes a custom exhaust, 19" Rims and tires, 14" Bear Break Upgrade, and the parts they use are top of the line.

How do I know?

Check my sig. :)

VT Engines, the producer of Marauder VT, is a supporting vendor on this site.

It always amazes me that people get flabbergasted at the price tag of "Complete packages"... Folks should go and do the math on building these cars up to that level, including the labor... I'll give some examples from my own car...

$7000 Supercharger, $1800 installation
$1800 Brakes, $400 installation
$1400 Headers/exhaust, $700 installation
$250 swaybar, $50 install
$150 springs, $200 install
$2700 Audio System, $400 install
$300 badgeless grill
$6000 Complete Repaint (Was Warranted, but that's the bill)
$400 worth of gauges/pods, $150 to install
$400 V1
$350 Lidar Jammer
$500 Driveshaft
$1500 Bullet Proof tranny, $800 install
$750 Torque convertor, $300 install

...so we're at $28300 and I still don't have custom rims and tires yet!! So tack on another $2k for the rims and $800 for tires...That puts at $31,100 without even breaking a sweat, plus the cost of the Marauder, in my case $25,800, for a colossal total of $56,900.

...AND I ain't even the baddest ass on the block!

Now, I didn't actually spend that much money on everything (I gots me some hook me ups ya see), but are those the prices the average joe would pay? Absolutely!

So, if you ask me, The packaged cars are a HELL of a deal, especially considering all you have to do is show up, turn the key and be a bad ass, you don't even have to put any effort into it.

So there you have it. Hopefully my wife never sees this post.

Sum good input. I also read the same article. Yes package deals make more sense. Just get in and drive. But I guess if around $60,000 is not prob a few thounds more and get a VIPER!!!! Just my 2 cents!

Thought about telling Logans wife about this Thread but I think the smart move would be to NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :shot: :shot:

Don't discount the fun of designing your very own, half the joy (and headache) of this car is deciding what to do, when, how, and seeing the payoff. This is priceless.

I can appreciate and relate to Logan's comments as well as MAC's comments. here's another example of the cost of horsepower represented by the following list of modification costs of my Marauder:

Stallion single-plate Torque converter $800 dealer installation fee $300

Kooks headers and exhaust package $1600 (installed myself)

Reinhart chip $325 (installed myself)

Dynotech MMX driveshaft $500 (installed myself)

Ford Racing 4.56 rear end gears $190 (installed myself)

....so thats $3415 for parts, and $300 for labor. A total of $3715. Another proof that HP costs $$.
