My mom is looking to get a 2011 Escape 2.5 I4 DOHC 16V Limited Edition. Anyone have any input on this vehicle? I checked Edmunds.com consumer reviews and it looks split 50/50 positive and negative. Any and all input is appreciated! Thanks!

Bought ours new in '11. Great car mechanically. gas milage is not as great as i thought it would be. 21 .5 MPG city AWD and V-6. Flex fuel option was nice during the trip into $4.00+ per gallon. Disappointed with the Sync. Nice option, buy voice recognition is bad for me. Seems to work ok with the wife(it's her car). We have 26K on it and bought the extended premium care. Go for it and if you want a good deal on ESP coverage, let me know.
PS I drove both the 4cyl and the six,,,IMHO the six is better!!

Bought ours new in Dec 2010. We have 6 cyl, FWD. Like Dan said, gas mileage is not as good as we thought it would be, but otherwise, we like the car.

50/50 split is about right, from my experience whenever they came into the dealer it was either great for the customer or a pile of ****. The weekest links are the control arms in the front, and rear wheel bearings. Other then that they turn into interior rattle boxes but not an issue unless you live in pot hole infested places like NY

We looked at them, but for the money felt we got a lot more out of a 2011 Subaru Outback. Liked it so much we just traded it in for a 2013 to get the new timing chain design motor. First time I have ever repeated a new car purchase.
The price was lower, the MPG was higher (26 from our '11 with mixed driving 32+ on long trips but the '13 is not doing as well yet), more interior room, better AWD system than the Escape. Not everyone is willing to consider a Japanese import all the way from Indiana. If she is, put it on your list to consider.

My mom looked at them, but ended up getting a nissan murano and loves it.
