Anyone know where I can get the best price on a 80mm Pro-M MAF? Anyone have a friend that can get me one new in a box for the best price?

Buy yourself a 90mm lightning MAF.
Were not putting out enough horsepower yet to justify buying a Pro-M.
Jerry W. has tuned a few Marauders witht this MAF so far and reports it corrects all anomolies in the upper rpm range that were present with the stock MAF. It will also improve shift points believe it or not.

Go with the Lightning MAF only after considering the below. I’m the first and only one I know of with a blown Marauder that has actually gone to the Lightning MAF (although I haven’t been on this board in quite a while now). I just took mine off and installed an 80mm Pro-m, then built a custom airbox around it.
There is nothing wrong with the lightning MAF exactly, it is just that while attached to our stock airbox, it is outputs a ton of MAFV noise around 400 RWHP. My MAFV was just plain crazy at 5,100 RPM and above, which results in an, at times, inconsistent A/F, and a loss in HP.
Since switching to the Pro-m, I now have a perfect MAFV curve and my A/F has stabilized substantially. It is still a bit hard to control as I have surpassed the limits of my fuel pump. However that is changing this weekend, as I am going with a 255l unit I just ordered.
I suppose you could go with a lightning MAF and buy an adapter kit to connect it to a conical filter to get past the limitations of our stock airbox, but how close do you want to get to spending the same amount for the "known good" solution.
I can also tell you that the blower noise associated with our Eatons has decreased substantially with the new setup. I don't have a bright answer as to why exactly, but mine seems much quieter under light to moderate loads.
I'll wait until after the Stat change (yet again) and the fuel pump update to post my new RWHP numbers. BTW - I also recently installed a new heat exchanger. Check it out, went to a radiator shop and browsed a 2" thick catalog until I found the one I wanted. It is a 25x13x3 row, double pass radiator from an audi 100 (I believe). It has no cap, so it installs just like a regular sealed unit in the grill!!!
BTW - Zack, at the time I installed mine, it was only a suggestion from Jerry to do, he hadn't actually done one yet, but that was back in November/December. I have no idea why you would think it would improve shift points, "that don't make no sense".

What did you build the air box with? Got any pics? I've been wondering if the airbox for a cold air kit for a F150 or Lightning or maybe even a CV would fit the MM.
Any thoughts about trying their new 92mm unit for s/c applications? It's like the 80mm and comes with the conical filter.
BTW the Pro-M 80mm with conical filter is not listed on the pro-flow price list any more, but it is still available. Just gotta call for the part # information as it was accidentally left off the new price list.

Man Dave, I hope you find a good deal. I've been away from this place for so long that I didn't even think of asking the same question before I bought mine. I paid 310.00 from Pro-M. Looked on ebay and all I could find was a universal, which didn't do it for me. Good Luck and happy HP hunting!

I built it out of plexiglass and epoxy. I cut my pieces to fit, and glued them together. Then for the second stage, I made 90 degree brackets and glued them into place in 6 locations for support. I then wrapped the whole thing in insulation and topped it off with aluminum HVAC tape. I also installed a small bracket to keep the zip tube from moving and installed an extension to get the filter closer to the front fenderwell.
I don't have any experience personally with the 92mm unit, but I do know that Lidio tried it and he had bucking issues and went back to the 80mm.
I would imagine there are more than a few cold air kits out there that could be made to work with very little hassle. I looked around a bit, then just set out to "do it myself". I can say this, you NEED an airbox around the conical filter. On a 30 degree day I noticed a 6 degree IAT difference with and without the box I made. If it is that much of a difference on a 30 degree day, what is it going to be like on an 80 degree day?
I'll take some pics in a bit and post them to this thread.

Now don't bash it too much. Keep in mind it was a proof of concept. Now that I have the procedure down, I plan on reducing the dimensions by about 2" all the way around.

Intercooler looks like a good move. Cold air kit needs some work but I see where you're headed. Lookin good.

The Pro-M has yielded the best and most consistant results on the Trilogy setup. Lidio has tried a couple of the 90mm and they created drivability issues. After all the different ones we tried, the Pro-M 80R was the choice. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Jerry W., so I stick with what works and I can actually see, feel, and understand the results with Lidio.
Help me out on this. Are these questions only concerning blown Marauders? Would this new set up help NA cars?

We'll find out. No properly documented cases have been presented here for the n/a cars. Early statements on Pro-flow's website claimed 17 hp increase on a n/a car. That has been contradicted by some folks but no data to prove either way. I've got one on order and will properly document it.
The tests have actually been done on the blown car and Lidio has documented a 15 hp gain. How much of that is due to the conical filter and how much from the MAF itself, we don't know. Probably never will, since the Pro-M has a bell-mouth flange and will not fit the standard airbox. Hence the MAF and filter is a kit and not available separately.
In any case, an open element air filter needs to have an enclosure around it to keep engine compartment heat out of it.
Keep us posted FordNut. Thanks for taking the plunge. This is a mod I would do if it actually has any benefit.

A roots style blower caputres air in the same manner as a N/A engine, however, the centrifugal blower does not.

Fordnut, what is the price on the site you emailed me...for some reason i cant get there. I'm looking for model 80-R, which is the model number from the one on Lidios.

Like I said earlier "the Pro-M 80mm with conical filter is not listed on the pro-flow price list any more, but it is still available. Just gotta call for the part # information as it was accidentally left off the new price list."
They just created a new part numbering system. The one that used to be in the price list is now part # 80PN3T-xxyyzz. The extension tells the injector size and other info for calibration. If you're using stock injectors and n/a just say so when you order it. If you're supercharged some of those numbers may have different significance so it would probably be best to call them.
List prices are all they show on the Pro-flow website. This one was and still is listed at $475. I got a better price at Holcomb Motorsports. Other retailers may be able to do even better than they did. I'm not sure if you can order online from Holcomb and expecially since the MAF sensor has to be special ordered you'll have to talk to them personally.
