Anybody have a problem where you cannot program a replacement remote? I have one that works but the second one I have stopped working. Ok no big deal right and I buy a new replacement. Open the manual and it says cycle key from off to on 4 times stopping in the on position. Not from lock to on from off to on. U should hear the doors lock and unlock if they were unlocked. Never changes. Tried it with doors locked to start and same thing nothing. Is there another way?

It's 8 times, not 4

Another thing you can try is go to auto zone and make sure that the remote is outputting something. You're not really programming the remote but programming the car to accept the new remote so it needs to be outputing rf.

8 times? my manual says 4? thanks I will try the 8 times. +
The remote has nothing to do with it bigcars4ever. It will not go into the program remote mode to accept them.
It's 8 times, not 4
Nope not on '99-'05 Panthers, it's four switch cycles...

He said "MarOWder".........
I've been meaning to ask about this as I've tried this a number of times I've searched all of the posts and read them - I didn't know that you had to cycle the key 4 (or 8) times in 3 seconds.
I'll try it again.

Mine is 4
Make sure you're using the correct remotes, even though they look the same some won't work.
It should go into the programming mode with four switch cycles...
BTW the remotes for vehicles that require 8 cycles(AFAIK all other Ford products) won't program on a 4 cycle type(or vice versa), but it still should enter programming mode...

won't enter program mode with 4 cycles. doors locks should cycle to let you know it is in program mode. mine won't.

Try unlocking the door with the door switch first, then do the key cycles with the driver door open. If that doesn't work, try the same with the door closed.

Sorry, dunno what to say, my '03 enters programming on four cycles, had the '98 Grand Marquis remote programmed into it till I got one from ebay...

Only other thing I can say is make sure you aren't cycling too fast, 3 seconds doesn't sound like much, but you can go too fast.
