This question came up in Hot Rod. If you could have one car the rest if your life what would it be? This doesn't mean we are talking about one CAR and you can still have a truck to tow it with and a bike on sunny days. The better question is what one vehicle would you like the rest of your life?

My 2003 Mercury Marauder for me. Overtime, what's under the hood has changed and will change again. As long as it's fast enough for fun, even as technology keeps getting better, I'm happy with it. Twin turbo new 5.0 would be fun under the hood someday.

You?

Black 65 Lincoln Continental hardtop

The interior (dash) would be modern while the engine bay/exterior would be all original.

And gas would be $0.39/gal

Other than my Marauder, if I'm pipe dreaming I'd say a '68 Galaxie fastback with modern creature comforts and suspension. That or an early-'60s Bonneville or Catalina with the same treatment.

I would like to have another 1972 Gran Torino Sport I had when I was younger ,miss that car. I always liked luxury cars with power .

The problem for me is rust, I can't bring myself to drive a nice car in the winter...

A '57 Ford Custom 2dr sedan with one of Jon Kaase little Boss 429, old skool, can tune it with a box of carb jets...

In the real world it has to be my '69 Fairlane Cobra that I've already owned 40 years(next month)...

I too would like to see gas at .39, but could live with anything that gets 15mpg...

That's where I was gonna go, but you beat me to it...;)

Gosh, a toss up for me.

I love my S/C'd DBP, but I've always wanted a '63 1/2 Galaxie fastback with an R code engine and 4 speed.

If we're talking one car to go food shopping, on vacation, take some folks with you out to dinner, etc, it would have to be a last generation TownCar.

If the definition was changed to "what fun car would you like to own forever":

1965 Corvette, 327/300, roadster, 4 speed, two tops, Nassau blue in/out..

Since I've had a Marauder as my primary for 7 years. I think its safe to say a Marauder works well for me.

I love my MM but if I had to choose it would be a midnight metallic blue 57 Belair hardtop. Modern suspension, w/a LS-1 motor swap, and a custom fitted corvette interior. Never owned a Chevy but the Belair was the first model I built with my dad as a kid and I have lusted after them ever since.

If you are talking about just one vehicle period - it would have to be a truck for me since I haul my dirtbike and 3wheelers and occasional bedful of scrap, etc... Obviously a crew cab so Harley F150 or SRT10 Viper truck most likely. That way it could be my hotrod, family hauler, toy hauler, and daily driver.

For just one hotrod type car...I've been content with my t-bird SC for 17 years now. I see no reason why I couldn't be content with it forever. Plus, as I continue to mod it, it's getting harder to find something else to replace it with that is actually faster.
