When I first bought the car also got drive train warranty with it. Within the first month I had it the od light flashes and it gets overhauled, cool. Warranty basically paid for itself here. Couple weeks later od light flashes again, band in transmission broke. Came across another problem don't remember what it was in trans. Warranty end at this point then get a letter in mail and a buy a new warranty $50 dollars a month and $250 deductible. Months go by and no problems. Then, in January tail shaft was cracked and have no idea how it or when this happened new warranty fixes it. I break even with the months I covered without problems cause dealership had to dish out $400. Well last week on Wednesday I felt 4th gear starting to slip 4 weeks after I get it back. Thursday it was still occurring while going to school and work. I told my dad my trans is messing up lets switch cars and you tell me what you think. Friday when we get home he didn't really feel what I felt but said its skipping 3rd gear. Never happened with me before. I take my girlfriend to work and it I see what he's saying rpms just climb while on 2nd and won't shift unless it's going to 4th. I made it home safe only able to go 25mp. Pull up to my house to back in driveway and reverse is gone. WTF! put it on neutral and you can hear it make a spooling up noise. Dad comes out and said its locked up. Tow truck drops it off and warranty doesn't want to fixed with history of trans SO I'm getting and BRAND NEW unit $3200 worth while I'm stuck with paying my deductible. :D Should have it back on Tuesday.
That's good news!
And tell your brother to stop MANUAL SHIFTING it! :nono:
These transmissions don't like to be shifted like that!
Glad you're getting a new one though.

He only did it cause it wasn't banging gears and stopped along time ago when Zach tune was put on but then said it banged too hard. I loved it!
I inherited a bs trans and didn't you hear J.J say the trans was garbage when I got it tuned.

The tailshaft broke because of the driveshaft vibration. I have broke a couple in my early days.
Hey I'm just glad you were able to get it fixed. Especially under warranty.
Are you still considering getting the challenger?

Better get your driveshaft checked out so it doesn't crack another tailshaft. Might want to look into getting a MMC one.

If you've had this many trans issues I would want to know why...I'd suspect that the cooler is not being flushed properly when the work is being done...this new one will go BANG if your cooler is not flushed.

Agreed, in 46+ years of vehicle ownership the '07 Grand Marquis that I bought in '08 is the only one that's had a warranty... If it breaks I fix it, have bought a few engines/trans over the years, usually to upgrade and orig was sold...

Dealer is the only one that has touched the trans. I think the dealer that had it in January did something wrong when they drop it last.

I understand that, but when this many trannys have gone bad, that metal is in the cooler no matter what. If I were you I'd ask to see the trans flush machine and be sure you know that the tech who is doing your flushing does it forward and backwards. Sooner or later the warranty company is going to say tough luck to you.

Just replace the cooler. To helll with trusting a flush to clean out the old one.
