I would like to lead my first post by sharing I am the Social Media Director for the Brock Yates' One Lap of America. I am also owner of Second Service Vehicles, a buyer of Police and Special Service Vehicles with two entries in this year's OLOA event.

Brock just gave me the news that we have an all-new class for the 2013 One Lap of America specifically for 4-door Panthers and cars with 3.5L & larger engines! I lobbied pretty hard to make this happen and hope anyone who has ever wished to participate, now truly consider it. This takes all the CVPI & Marauders out of the Mid-Priced Sedan Class and gives them a class where they can compete against one another! Its an AMERICAN SEDAN class only... so no high-powered AWD Volvo sedans or BMW 3&5 series sedans either!!

If you are interested in joining the fun, let me know!! This year is the perfect grouping of tracks for the Panther platform as the venues are wide open, and high-speed momentum will be the key!

THINK... DAYTONA!!!

I have an email back from a Chrysler Exec with their Police Vehicles Program and they are considering an entry with a new Charger Pursuit! So this could possibly turn into a "Cop Car Shootout!"

Total shame that Ford's Police Vehicles department totally balked at any support or participation with their new Interceptor Taurus.

Very cool to see you coming up to Virginia International Raceway. I'm sure we'll get a good representation from the CAM group here!

All of the OLOA events are free to the public to come watch. We would LOVE to get a group together at each event. I know there are quite a few guysfrom the CVN site wanting to give us a P71 Escort into a couple of the tracks. Should be cool!

I just picked up one of the two the 2007 CVPIs that we will be giving away for our drawing from the transmission shop! Freshly built with HD Kevlar bands and a higher stall converter! SAAWEEEET!!

ITs an extremely clean, low mile car with the dark graphite/black interior... should look killer with some Recaro seats!

Is there a stock only rule, or can Trilogy cars run?? Other mods? Nothing about the class on the website that I could see just yet.

When I click on the onelap site "enter" button then select "rules". The results do not display the rules.

It takes forever to get anything updated on the site and Brock is waiting to hear if SCCA is going to say anything about using the name "American Sedan" even though they use it for a Coupe Class. LOL!!

All classes in the OLOA are designed to separate cars as they were offered or rated new. With that being said... its run-what-cha-brung! OR... as many find out, run what you dare! Remember, you have to live with it for 4000+ miles, survive a week on a set of tires and worst of all, put up with your co-driver!

So yes... a bone stock car will compete against a fully modded one because as history has shown many times... the modded car will break and the stock car will keep on going until the finish for the win. There is a STOCK class which is ruled by honesty... To be eligible for the "Stock" trophies, competitors must amend their vehicle description in the One Lap driver database by adding (Stock) to the Model type. Non-stock safety equipment must be approved by the organizer to balance safety and the intent of the class.

Again, the "Stock" trophies will be in addition to the normal class structure, not a stand-only class. This means if you are the only STOCK car in the American Sedan class, yet finish last to the modified cars, you will still take the WIN for the Stock class. If there are multiple Stock and Modified cars within the class, then you will have competition on both levels with the opportunity to win both.

This event is truly about the friendships, the stories and getting past the odds one will face along the journey. The time on the tracks will be a small part but it will be a collection of moments you will never forget! Just imagine your first lap coming off of the Daytona International Speedway banking at full speed and praying your brakes will hold as you dive into turn-1... without blinking or taking a breath! These will be moments you share with everyone for the rest of your life!

I was really starting to get interested reading the rules until I saw the $3000.00 entry fee*. Way to rich for me... :bigcry:

When I win the Lotto, I'm there! :banana2:

*"The entry fee of the 2013 Tire Rack One Lap of America will be $3000 U.S. funds only, non-refundable. The fee includes car and crew, specified social events, and eligibility for all prizes and awards."

I would suggest foregoing the lottery ticket idea and reach out to a local charity, law enforcement DARE group or foundation. See if they will allow you to offer a donation with proceeds from your efforts going to help others. If you look at the entry list for OLOA, most all use this method for generating the funds needed to participate in an event that will require truthfully $6000 to participate in food, fuel and hotels plus entry fee. Look at the people who are running in this event and its a few who have the capability to write a check to make it happen.

Last year we raised $47,500.00 in donations, support and financial help to run an ambulance in the OLOA. We could not have done that without the help of others making it happen. If you are serious about doing the event, I will help anyone who wants to come play get their program together to make it happen. I went to bat for all the Panther drivers to beg Brock for a class in which we could compete among like vehicles, and now we have it. So it would be a huge shame if I fielded the only two entries. Go look for a charity, an election for public office or even your church... you will be surprised how fast you can become equipped for this event once you make the determination that YOU CAN DO IT!!

AND... should you decide that you will enter a team to compete, I will offer my company's full marketing support to help promote your charity or foundation.
