Dayco makes a Marauder specific one, I've replaced my idler pulley and tensioner. I got my parts from Auto Zone.
Over the counter part at any local Ford dealer. May as well replace them all while you are at it and have the belt off. And you may as well replace the belt since it was smoking across your pulley that wasn't moving.

Closer to sea level I would agree!

How many miles when they let loose? Personally, I would just get a good deal on the parts from Ford if you can.
After years of experience with aftermarket parts that mostly do not last like OEM I decided my time is actually worth money. With rare exception I use Ford parts. Just checked and the tensioner is $42 if you don't pay the typical robber-baron prices.

I have more miles on my idler pulley and tensioner then the OEM stock parts, over 2x the mileage actually.

Dayco has been known to make good stuff. I guess the exception proves the rule.
Unfortunately there are plenty of aftermarket companies making junk parts, giving the good ones a bad name. It is hard to know which is which, so Ford is usually a safe bet.
I'll never forget a TRW water pump on my '89 GM leaking out the seal after 20K miles. Took it back to NAPA and they refused to make good on it. Replaced it with OEM, and it was the last TRW part I ever bought. :mad2:

Absolutely it's hit or miss with aftermarket stuff.

The idler pulley bearing is actually the same front alternator bearing Ford has used since 1965 to the later 70's. It is the same for the idler pulleys for everything from about 1984 up. The pulley is the difference. I usually just change them at about 80K up miles becuase they will feel loose and rough when you spin them. I then change out the bearing that is available from any bearing supply house for about $20 and keep the MM pulleys on hand.
For the cost of new OEM units vs a tow and belt replacement when they fail, it actually could put replacement in the preventative maintenance catagory. I have seem some with 150K plus miles that are fine, but it is a question of how the bearing was originally produced vs anything you can do the extend the life.

I carry a spare belt in the trunk along with a 3/8" rachet and extension. They don't add much weight and may well come in handy sometime.
