<HR style="COLOR: #dddddd" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I'm not sure if Pittsburgh would be too far away, but we could host a great meet here on July 17&18. Check out www.pittsburghvintagegrandprix .com (http://www.pittsburghvintagegrandprix .com/) ... I run the car shows... I'm sure I could make room on the golf course for MMs... and I think the other 1700 showcars would enjoy them too!

It's not a bad idea to try and get something together for us here in New England that wouldn't be so far away for us. So you have my attention. But I must comment on one thing. This is a "Vintage Car" show that you're speaking of. So we might not be so well received as you think.

I don't mean to sound negative. I for one would appreciate your efforts, but I'm just suggesting that you look into the possibility of the non-acceptence of our cars in a show like that by the other participaters who have been involved w/the club in question for awhile. If I'm missing something, then please correct me.

I'm not questioning the possibility of us Marauder owners being able to participate, nor your ability to get us into this event. What I'm saying is that there is a certain ettiquette that should be observed in these things since car clubs are made up of groups of people who are a community just as we are here on this board. And just because we can get into a show doesn't neccessarily mean that we would be welcome to be there by the veterans of the club in question. It would depend on what there tastes are. And if we are not welcomed by the veteran members, then it would be like us crashing somebody's house party.

i say all that because I'm assuming that this is a show that takes place on a yearly basis, and/or it is one sponsored or set up by a "vintage" car club who participates in atleast one of these types of car shows every year.

But perhaps you know more about this then you've explained. If that is the case, then by all means, share it w/us. :)

In the summer, we have several Cruise Nights at the Beach in Misquamicut, RI. I'll get the dates up as soon as I get them. So far, I've been the only Marauder there, however other late models do show up. Not sure where in CT you're at, but directions aren't that hard. I used to live in Norwich, so I know most of the area to say Hartford and east.

BillyGman,

Thanks for treading lightly, but rest assured MM's would be warmly welcomed. I'm the Event Director and Car Show Coordinator for the PVGP, so I know the event pretty well.

The word "Vintage" in the name Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is misleading. The cars that race on the twisty park roads were generally built in the early 1960s or earlier. The drivers of those cars love our event because it recreates the hay bale atmosephere that sports car racing was in the 1950s. Our grid holds about 180 racecars that run in about 7 different classes.

Our car shows are open to anything. The whole PVGP is actually a fund raiser, and I'm just a volunteer. We've raised over 1.6 million since 1983, and the proceeds are shared by the local chapter of the Autism Society and a fine organization called Allegheny Valley School that takes care of folks a little less fortunate than the rest of us.

Car show admission is $20, and all the proceeds go to the charities. We've found our charities pretty much like anything shiny that parks on the golf course.

Our "Marque of the Year" this year is Mini, and I'm sure we'll have 10 new ones for every old one.

Anyhow, valid concerns... but we're not like that in Pittsburgh.

I'm pretty new to MM.net, but I've noticed that most members have (or at least had) other interesting cars. My favorite thing about the PVGP is the variety we get... everything from gullwing Mercedes Benzes to Shelby Mustangs and those little blue Subarus.

So, great event for car people... (not that I'm biased http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif) Not all of our show cars appeal to all of our spectators... but that's what makes the world go 'round. Btw, we don't "judge" any cars... our charities like them all!

One last thing... For pure Mercury action this won't compare with Marauderville... so if you're going to do one or the other... go West!!! Indy ain't far at 100 mph!

Thanks,
Greg
