View Full Version : lower intake wobbles

I ground my knock sensor bosses and installed my cobra heater return tube. I placed the cobra lower intake on the heads WITHOUT the gaskets, and it has a very slight wobble from corner to corner. Is this a problem or should it wobble a tad without the gaskets? I put gaskets on and it seemed to fit great with no wobbling. Wondering if the Intake isn't true. And I know for sure I ground the bosses down enough. Opinions anyone?

Under the cobra intake is a 90* fitting that faces the back in the center of the manifold. Even ifs its removed, the threaded bung protrudes a little bit. Because the gaskets are pretty thick and raise the manifold up at least a 1/4", you are probably touching the coolant line with either the fitting or the bung.
If it sits flat with gaskets then don't worry about it.

Ok. The fitting was replaced with a plug. But it does hang down a 1/4 inch off the bottom. I might take it out and test fit to see if that is whats giving me my wobble. Thanks.

Took out the plug and ground knock sensor bosses almost flush with the block. Without gaskets it still has the slightest rock from corner to corner. Fit it up with gaskets and it seems to sit flat. I guess I'm gonna roll with it and hope for the best. Seems to be the actual intake that is causing it. Any other people experience this?

I will only set one that sits flat with no gaskets. Take a guess where it's hitting, spray paint in that spot (i always spray the tube) and it will tell you exactly what you are rubbing.
