I was told today that there was an issue with the coils packs on these cars and I'm incline to believe it since I had two replaced today. Are there any good aftermarket ones for a stock setup tha I should look into if and when I have problems out of the other six???

Nope......FORD coils are good despite what the naysayers say!!
There are others that work well too and probably cheaper ones but changing the connectors to solid ones will make a difference long term!!
Summit carries them....I bought Granatellis 7 years ago and now have 246K miles on the original coils!!
Good Luck!!

Yeah, they've never failed for you so they should work fine for everybody else . . . :argue:
The OEM coils are a known failure mechanism. Replace them all, including the spark plugs (carefully) and be done with the misfire.
New Ford parts seem to work fine, some have had good luck with MSD. I just used the new Ford part number for 4V engines and they're still running well 50K miles later.
Ignore Marauderjack on this issue. He is unable to comprehend that numerous other Marauder owners have had to replace these failed parts. :shake:

Who the HELL do you think you are.......jerk!!??
There are a bunch of us who have had excellent luck with OEM coils and then there are those who rode around with water in plug tubes thanks to bad seals and flooding the engine while washing!! I'm sure that's a FORD coil problem...huh??:shake:
You sir have an attitude problem and are certainly not very objective!!

It would seem you are the one with the attitude. :flamer:
It is an indisputable fact that many, many Marauder owners have had to replace their failed OEM ignition coils.

Ding...Ding...ok go to your respective corners please.:D From my perspective my Marauder has 67,000 miles on the clock. In my opinion the coils should not have failed. That's why I 'm looking for alternatives. I appreciate both sides,;) but my experience with these coils from a stock motor I'm looking to get other than OEM.

I just installed the Granatelli Hot Street coils on my MM, 230ish for all 8 from Jegs. I've put almost 1000 miles on em already, no issues, runs good, idles good, works for me.
After working on F/L/M for 12 years, I'm still in the middle of the road on OEM coils. I see them fail with ultra low miles, and I see them still running strong after 200,000+ miles. It's just the same with anything else, you may get a good one, may get a bad one, regardless of brand. You can take two identical vehicles, both rolled off the same line, one may have no problems for 100K miles, the other may be a lemon. I don't think that any one coil is better than the other as far as life expectancy, but some may be better in the performance aspect. I do believe that the main issue with coils on these engines is HEAT, same with the 5.4 navigator, and 3.9 LS and Tbird, the majority of bad coils I see are on these engines. So far, the performance coils I have seen, seem to hold up longer than OEM, but I've seem MSD and Accel fail with low mileage too. I say pick what is in your budget, or try something new and see what happens!

Maybe 10+ years ago they use to be, now their quality has dropped a whole lot.
Just remember there are members on here with 500+ rwhp running OEM coils.
I have 190K+ miles on my stock coils, I will most likely be buying a new set of OEM for my new motor build. If I were to go aftermarket these are the only ones I would consider going with http://www.weaponxperformance.com/weaponx/catalogv137/level-2-efx-super-coil-kit-ford-modular-v8-4v-p-285.html

I'll back up Accel coils, a guy at work installed MSD coils on his supercharged F150, and had nothing but problems. He yanked the MSDs out and installed the Accel coils, and has had thousands of miles with no problems. I agree with MSD not being that great anymore, I went through 3 MSD 7-whatever boxes in 2 years on my race truck, and an MSD coil on the same truck earlier on, replaced with Accel, no problems since then. No more MSD for me.
Still rocking my factory motorcraft coils from day 1!
Mine are holding up just fine! Even with 500RWHP!!!
