My daughter Caitlin this year, joined her school archery team, and has really done well, and is a natural thus far while really enjoying the sport.

Yesterday, her team and many others competed in the State Tournament, and Caitlin shot her best to date:

A 253 out of 300 possible!

Each Archer shoots 15 arrows at 10 meters. Then the same number of arrows at 15 meters.

She was nailing the target yesterday shooting:

Six 10's, Nine 9's, Nine 8's, Four 7's and Two 6's

Caitlin's Ranking:

Middle Division - Grade 7:
Rank Gender Division: 199
Rank Gender Grade: 98
Percentile: Top 44.79%

Her and myself were totally on a "high" yesterday and wanted to share this as a very proud Dad.

:)

Due to all of her teammates shooting skills, they took State and now advance to the Nationals in May!

Congrats - As an archer myself and one who will be soon teaching his own 8 year old daughter to shoot, I am curious:

Recurve or compound? I am not familiar with junior leagues. What age group?

I shoot (or I should say shot in the past) indoor 300 rounds and hope to get back into it once I have an excuse to spend time on the range again (i.e. spend time with my daughter).

All the Archers shoot a Genesis Compound.

Four Divisions:

Elementary - Maximum Grade 6
Middle - Maximum Grade 8
High School - Maximum Grade 12
Individual - Maximum Grade 12

There is a lot of information on the NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) website, and can be found here:

My oldest was on the Bullit East team the first year they offered it and they went all the way to state. Didn't win..but was still really good for a first year. We've got a target at the house if you ever want to use it man. I think we still have her bow too.
