Started the car this morning and just as the title says, the O/D Light is flashing constantly at a consistent rate and the CEL is on. Car wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Plugged my scanner in and its a p0750 -Shift Solenoid "A". Used the Google machine and came up with the following information from http://engine-codes.com/p0750_ford.html
"Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty shift solenoid 1 valve
- Shift solenoid 1 valve harness or connectors
- Shift solenoid 1 valve circuit is open or shorted
When the a transmission solenoid is malfunction, in most cases the problem is not the electrical part of the solenoid; the problem is foreign material obstructing the mechanical function of the solenoid or the flow of the fluid through the transmission valve body. If the transmission fluid is very dirty, it is recommend changing the transmission fluid and if possible removing the transmission pan for further diagnosis. Excessive debris or metal particles on the transmission pan could be an indication that there is a transmission mechanical failure and that the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced. "
Read a few other threads and sounds like some others may be having similar issues. I hope a rebuild isn't necessary since I am currently between jobs and cannot afford one. I guess I'll check the connectors on the harness, if that doesn't fix it, I'll replace the solenoid. Then drop the pan and change fluid. Process of elimination. It happened suddenly too. Was running and shifting fine all day yesterday.
