I'm pretty sure that the Merc S 55 (and Ford's 500XL) are appearance/trim options (buckets/console/interior door panels, etc) only, and don't incude any real performance adds.
Anyway, I'm not ceazy about pink, but the car is nice.

The S-55 was a model, not an option. It came with a 300 HP standard engine instead of the 250 HP engine for non S-55 cars. It was also not available with the non S-55 standard 3-speed transmission.

I did not know that!
What were the choices? (I'm guessing console mounted 4 speed manual or Cruise-o-matic.)

Well it still a rare find with a floor shifter in my book!

Console shifted 3-speed Cruise-o-matic was standard in an S-55. The 4-speed manual was a no-cost option.

According to "The Complete History of Ford" book
"As with Ford's XL, the bucket seat Monterey Custom S-55 hardtop and convertible were joined by a new hardtop sedan and a mid season slantback rocket, the S-55 $3,650 Marauder.
The Marauder also appeared in a non bucket form ($570 lower cost).
The ultimate S-55 Marauder included the 390/300 as standard, with engines up to 425 hp optional."
True on the trans options, because all S-55's (and 500XL's) came with a console, and Ford didn't offer three speed console cars, as far as I know.
(But, since the Marauder was available without buckets, was the bench seat Marauder 390/300 available with a three speed column shift? Book doesn't state.)
So, if I'm reading this correctly, S-55's were bucket seat cars that came with the base 390/250 engine while the S-55 Marauder came with the 390/300 standard.
The 390/300 was a one step up motor. (A 390/330 was available as was the bigger 427 block.)

You're close, but not quite there.
Standard drive train for a 1963 Monterey, Monterey Custom, or Marauder was a 390 2V - 250 HP, 3-speed manual trans, 3.50 rear end.
Standard drive train for a 1963 Monterey S-55 2dr, Monterey S-55 4dr, or Marauder S-55 was a 390 4V - 300 HP, 3-speed automatic trans, 3.00 rear end.
Even though the 3-speed manual was standard in the bench seat cars you don't see many that came that way. I have seen a small number of S-55's with the 390 2V engine (a no cost option).

This is prolly the only pink car I would like to own, other than the ofcourse '59 Cadillac. Sweet interior, but I knida like the 64's front end alittle better. Still wouldn't kick this one out of the garage for leaking on the floor.

Well, if you say so, but I don't agree. That's not what the Ford book says. Where are you getting your info?
I can only quote the book:
"The ultimate S-55 Marauder added all out performance to the formula, packing a standard 300-bhp 390 and offering bhp to 425."
If the S-55 and the Marauder S-55 both had the 390/300 as standard equipment with buckets, console, upper level interior and exterior trim, etc, then what's the difference between the two cars?
(The 1963 Comet also offered it's own "S" appearance package model, the S-22.)

I looked through the brochure, and it states that the Marauder S-55 came with the 390/300 standard.
The Ford book states that there was an S-55 version and a Marauder S-55 version (with the 390/300).
In comparison, Ford's 500XL was basically an appearance/trim level package with the small V8 as the base motor. Pretty much the same for the Merc's S-55.
Except that Mercury didn't use the small Ford 260 V8 (or 289) in 1963, so the base S-55 motor was the 390/250 2V.
Anyway, let's just agree to disagree.
