Is the reprogramming critical? I bought one of these (with stage 1 kit) but don't seem to be having any problems that I know of. What should I be looking for?

I don't think so. The problem I encountered was shift points as compared to the chip. They were entirely different. Otherwise, I really didn't see any other problems.

I am one of the unfortunates who has been dealing with this bad tuner incident since Monday 3/8/04.
Monday: Tip in predetonation and some confused transmission shifts. Concensous thought timing problem and California 91 octane the problem. Added octane boost and no change. UPS'd tuner back to Dennis.
Thursday: Recieved the tunner back UPS from Dennis and reinstalled software. Tip-in predetonation still present but greatly reduced. Shift points much improved, but hammer the throttle at 70mph and the car screams to over 6,500 RPM and well past red-line. Some gear hunting still there. UPS'd tuner back to Dennis.
You know, I was sitting at dinner tonight really pissed I had opened pandoras box. Thinking, "why do I always get the tempermental car" and "here is my new car with 1000 miles on it and it runs like crap". Then it crossed my mind that "maybe the Tuner was to blame, or maybe it wasnt holding the program during the trip out from Florida to California?".
The news of the bad Tuners was really a load off me tonight. I was not looking forward to spending another $350 bucks to put the OEM gears back in and return all back to stock. I was really enjoying the new off the line punch.
On a personal note:
Its nice to know there are some suppliers who are still willing to publicly show fault (when its there's or not) and move into a solution without trying to place blame.

spot....
Mine acts the same and when you take into account the hundreds if not thousands of variables in this "Tuner Thing" it may take a little while to iron out "Da Bugs"!!
It's GREAT to know that Dennis is there and gonna make changes until you and he are satisfied!!
My 04 has a TC lock-up issue in that it won't unlock at low speeds with mild acceleration.....Goint to meet Dennis next Tuesday to get it fixed!!
Marauderjack :pimp:
BTW, they will soon have a "User Friendly" upgrade that will allow Dennis to email program changes to you! You then simply download to your tuner and on to the car......GREAT IDEA!! :D :D

I'm jealous that you get to see Dennis personaly. I know if I just pulled into his shop, he'd resolve this in about an hour (count your blessings).
Maybe I should just move East and be done with $2.49 a gallon and median home prices near $400K!
Oh yeah, and that Governor who keeps asking for Sara Connor.

Raleigh, eh?... damn, looks like I might be hitting Raleigh sometime around April 1st. Anyone want to kidnap these fine folks and hold them there until I get down there? Otherwise, I'll just fly down and leave the Marauder at home.

No disputing that... it's perfectly natural to make mistakes (ie. see Todd's parents). To have that kind of open and honest 'guarantee' that you'll know the instant something has been found to be out of whack is worth a great deal indeed. Three thumbs up for Dennis on this one...

I emailed Dennis and asked if we needed to reload the stock program before returning the tuner. He said yes. So if anyone other than me is sending the tuner back, you need to reload your saved stock programs first. :bounce:

Dennis before we purchased the SCT Custom Controllers you stated that we would be able to down load modified files from you on the Internet.
This seems like a great solution to our current software problem.
The Internet would be much faster than mailing our controllers across the country one or more times to get the programs modified correctly.
Changes could be tested within hours not days or weeks which would give you quicker feedback and reduce the number of multi-program changes you have to deal with.
The Internet option seems like it would save you and us a lot of time and money.
Dennis do you have any new information what we have to do to get this option started?
Thanks
