I'd like to track down and check the history on 2 Shelby Mustangs I had somewhat of a connection to back when I was a teenager.

The guy who wrote the book and maintains the registry is Vinny Liska.
Go to the SAAC website and send him an email. Tell Vinny that Jim Signorelli sent you and he'll talk to you.

My brother and I are members of SAAC and my brother has the last 2 registries that Shelby has printed.
If you want to PM me the VIN #s, I can have him look up their history for you.

It's a bit more convoluted than that I'm afraid,don't have the VIN's.
One was a 66 GT350H one of my best friends in the winter of 66/67,all I'd have to try tracing it was my friend's name as most likely the first private owner of the car.
The other was a 68 GT500(may have been a KR) convertible I came within a hairs breath of buying brand new off the floor. The dealer still exists,is even a HI-Po Ford dealer to this day but they got rid of all their records from then long ago.
That car was fairly unique what with being a rag top GT 500,PLUS it had an automatic trans and factory A/C.To top it off the dealer's good old boy in the service dept. dug in the parts bins and installed dual quads on it!
The color was that dark blue,(Acapulco Blue?) with a tan interior and I seem to recall it's roll bar was tan too.It also had the optional Shelby wheels.
It would've been quite a car for a young dude just turning 18.But it's for the best I didn't buy as I would've killed myself and probably some innocents with it inside of a few weeks,or months at best.As stupidly wild as I was when I was younger I'd have made my buddy Dom seem like a little old lady going to church in comparison.
I'll pm you with my friends name for the GT350H and the dealer name and location for the GT500.Whoever has the drop top should probably send me a Thank You card for not buying it,if I had it would probably be part of a Hyundai today.
