I'm looking to get a fast sedan, and I fell in love with a Marauder after seeing one a car show.

So, I have a bunch of things in mind but I'm wondering why nobody has gone with different wheels? I'm looking for the low mean look.

First thing I'll be doing is getting a very low mileage stock black, then building up the motor, throwing a whipple (or similar) blower on it, and building up the transmission.

The OEM wheels are one of the most recognizable features of these cars, and are a big part of the signature Marauder look IMO.
Here's the proof - all the guys trying to clone a Vic or a Grand Marq start with these rims.

There are a few sets of rims that look really good on our Mercs. But nothing better looking.

Good luck on your quest. Show us pics.

I'm not really looking to get into semantics here about "signature Marauder look" when it's a brand new look (back in 2003, that is) but I do agree the wheels are the very first thing that give away a Marauder. I'm actually likely to go badge-less/blacked out lights/lowered suspension as well so maybe you guys will hate my car :) Nothing new for me haha.

I have an idea in mind for the car, and I have a price limit in mind and it looks like I've got around 2k for the wheel budget. Just seeing if anyone has taken the leap.

It may look great, it may look stupid. As it stands for me, the stock 18s on the car are... not great. They look good for what the car is, but Im looking for the younger generation hot rod look. Lower, sleeker, bigger and wider. I'm used to purists hating my idea - a ton of people at car shows hated my modernized 69 Camaro while other people absolutely loved it. It's a hard line to walk, because I love the look of the Blue Marauder, but for the "modern hot rod sedan" I gotta go black/black. Just the way it is haha. I found the gallery so Im looking through there.

edit: Something along these lines - http://www.discounttire.com/product/wheels/tswsne.hs.xl.jpg

I'm just looking at building a powerful 4 door sedan, and the Marauder might be the best bet. It's that or go the 67 Lincoln Continental route but I'd prefer a bit of creature comfort. This is far from a daily driver so I can survive if not, but I haven't seen any bad ass Marauders locally so I figured why not build one.

That makes 600 rwhp in a car able to be highway driven 1000 miles if need be. I have strange taste, I understand :) I'm just super picky and would prefer that I don't lose any speed compared to.. say... a 2011 Whipple Charged Mustang GT

2fast4sho has a really nice set.

And Lowbuckmm has a nice set too.

There was a really nice blue Marauder at our Louisville meet that has some kick ass Shelby rims that look pretty slick with low profile tires. I think it was Mebots dads car??

SLICK! Thank you for the info!

It's a toss up between the Marauder, a Charger SRT8, and just going the 67 Continental route, although I'd prefer not. I'm getting a bit cliche with my cars.

Okay Im not seeing any wheels on Lowbuckmm's car, just stuff about beating a new 5.0 (which would be nuts if genuine, those things trap 110-111 all day. Marauder with a 100 shot beating that is awesome)

And the search won't allow me to search for 2fast4sho

No semantics about it - you asked why most guys have stayed with the OEM rims, and I told you.
If you look around, there are guys rolling 22's, 24's, cars slammed to the floor, cars with 18" wide drag rubber, all kinds of stuff. There's even a green one ;). To each his own, I say.
Me, if I was going to mod too far away from the factory look, and especially if I was planning heavy, high-buck, engine-out stuff, and I didn't already have a Marauder, I'd save some money up front and start with a CVPI, or a get a much fresher CVPI for the same money. But that's just me - again, to each his own :)

The semantic comment was with regards to a "signature Marauder look" but I then realized in my brain I replaced "signature" with "classic" and it makes much more sense.

Semantics would have been "its not really classic when it's redesigned and a new look" but as I said, I had a strange brain fart. I blame it being late :P

And thank you for the links and cardomain suggestion. Found some great pics, and I've got some good ideas with the direction I want to take the car. Now to locate a very low mileage Marauder w/ or w/o a supercharger already installed. Regardless, gotta upgrade the brakes, transmission and internals. I'll likely use the same exhaust setup as I have had for my Cobras -> Long tube Headers + Magnaflow Catted X pipe + Magnaflow Catback. (edit Although on my 03 I had Magnapacks welded in to replace the Magnaflows... I like it to sound aggressive)

Then darken the headlights and tail lights, black out the badges, and look into suspension pieces (I've never been a fan of simply dropping a car via springs, but not sure there's any performance suspension available for a car such as the Marauder)

I love that stance. Mind telling me what he's got there? Wheel width + offset + the suspension? And that front lip! Awesome! Drool.

I think that's a fantastic looking Marauder. Big thumbs up to your dad!

Hard time deciding between the wheels to go with, it'll likely be the ones I posted earlier, or my regular ol http://www.ccwheel.com/wheelprofiles-display.php?id=SP20

I'm starting to realize I'm basically doing everything I did to my 03 Cobra but to a Marauder (except having a built motor stock) so I guess you guys see my plan :)

edit: Damn you, now I want the blue one. But I have to find a low mileage one, with at the VERY least the moon roof.

That, with a slight tweek to the wheels (we're all a little different, but I love your Foose wheels anyway!) is exactly what I'm going for.

Found a low mileage (<30k) 2004 Marauder in Black locally here in West Palm beach. Bone stock.

Made an offer, but I low balled him (asking $14k, I offered $10k cash) because looking at it, I've decided that I'm willing to accept a 50-60k car if it has the mods I'm looking for already built in. This build can get pretty pricey pretty fast. Have to do some more research when I get the chance but seeing that Marauder with the Whipple 03 Cobra motor in it has me champing at the bit right now. I have all the parts/pieces I want on the car cosmetically, and that'll run me roughly $2900 give or take, before selling the stock stuff (wheels, basically) to cover some cost.

The end goal is to keep this project under $20k, because if I don't I might be thrown into rehab with a car obsession, or my money manager will yell at me and force me to sell one of the other toys. And I've really been wanting to get a new boat.

Anyone have an extra $100k laying around?!

I think another reason people put Marauder wheels on their Crown Vics/Grand Marquis is because it's relatively cheap compared to aftermarket wheels. Same reason you see tons and tons of similar model year GTs rocking the Cobra rims.

I like my wheels to look big. Some 5 spokes look smaller than they actually are, in my eyes, and I like the aggressive low big wheel'd sedan look. My previous sedan was a 2003 Jaguar XjR, and I actually noticed this when shopping for one 4 years ago. The difference is easy to see when Jaguar switched from the 5 spoke 18 inch

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/1995-2000-jaguar-xjr.jpg&imgrefurl=http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1995-2000-jaguar-xjr.htm&h=220&w=400&sz=31&tbnid=usAIkKvCZa19PM:&tbnh=66&tbnw=120&zoom=1&usg=__P94SKpNyXfEbikki1agDyBrC nh4=&docid=yzXb6mXSfIcIiM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=AhBnUenAKYPC9QTnp4Bo&ved=0CDIQ9QEwAA&dur=163

To the multi spoke 18 inch

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=2001+Jaguar+XjR&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&biw=1366&bih=667&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&authuser=0&ei=FRBnUc3hDYO49gSVkoGADg#imgr c=n593pkHJXcH1MM%3A%3Bpl5myphx 1yaOwM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fim ages.thecarconnection.com%252F med%252F2001-jaguar-xj-supercharged_100028765_m.jpg%3 Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.motora uthority.com%252Fphotos%252Fja guar_xj_2001%3B400%3B200

To me the difference is night and day. The multi spoke looks bigger, more aggressive, and fills out the wheel well better. I guarantee there will be guys on this site that think "wow the 5 spoke look MUCH better!", but that's my logic behind replacing the Marauder wheels. Some people are happy with the stock engine, or with the car's stock ride height. I'm not. The biggest reason I'm so attracted to the Marauder versus other vehicles (such as the aforementioned XjR, CTS-V or even a E55/63) is the sheer ability to make the car unique.

I mean, I wouldn't dream of pulling the engine out of any of those cars, plus maintenance will be much easier. I almost built a 67 Continental that would have been VERY similar to Dax Shepard's ( http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://blog.powerblocktv.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/11.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blog.powerblocktv.com/dax-shepard-comes-to-powerblock-to-discuss-hit-run-lincoln-continental/&h=532&w=800&sz=92&tbnid=qzusZ4dkSnXLTM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=135&zoom=1&usg=__RPCtS6g2B5atdbyvB5UjbTmM n_s=&docid=YoB-Fgb5sMqrpM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=sRBnUeadFpOa8wTpm4GoDg&sqi=2&ved=0CDIQ9QEwAA&dur=708 ) so you can kinda see where my mentality is.

Hell, I'd likely forego tailpipes and go with dumps right after the muffler because I feel the exhaust tips look a bit out of place, especially the aftermarket ones that extend out the back further

I was in an accident this winter. My left rear wheel got warped and was not repairable. They ordered me a brand new one from Ford, took over a week to get it and it cost over $1,500 bucks. For one rim! That's a lot of coin on these cars. They are billet aluminium. Cut from a solid piece of aluminium. That’s a big part of why they cost so much. It takes a long time to carve that hunk of billet and, I wouldn't touch them. That's what makes a Marauder! How many cars come from the factory with offset wheels? Now that’s just my opinion so, take it easy on me!! LOL.. I don't know whether to believe them or not but, they said I got the last one in Fords stock.

I prefer the feel of the 20's over the 18's. With the 20's you lose a lot of the side wall roll when you take corners hard. I dont ride in other Marauders very often but I dont remember there being much difference in ride quality. I run 245/35 fronts and 275/35 rears

Older thread bump.

I am considering 20" wheels.

I'd like to keep the 255s up front and the 295's in the rear.

Would I need a 8.5" front wheel and a 9.5" (or 10") rear wheel?

Thank you.

Back when I was wanting a change Steve, it seemed 20x8.5 F and 20x10 R were the most commonly available and most universal for any tire in the range you are seeking.

I'm also considering 20" wheels... To help out Embassy and myself..

Does anyone have pics of 20x8.5 26mm offset wheels? I am interested in some concave eurotek style wheels, but they only offer the replicas in 26.5mm offset, and is sold as an 05+ Mustang wheel. I know that offset does not stick out of the fenders on Mustangs, but I am not sure if that would hold on a Marauder, seems the fenders come out more on a Mustang.

From research I've done, It seems the wheel and tire combo (26.5mm) will stick out at the very least 3/4" more than stock. Can anyone confirm and or have pics of this offset?

I think dohc324ci has 30mm offset on his Godspeed wheels btw.

Thanks for the offset reply adtaylor and 24shofast..

Seems the best offset for 20 x 8.5 is between 35-40. I am concerned 26.5mm will stick out too far, not only possibly rub on the 1 coil cut springs, but also look too ghetto. Fortunately(not for my wallet) the real wheels the replicas are based off of are +35mm offset for fronts...just twice as much cost-wise.

This is what I want.

I was looking at a set of wheels and sent a question to the seller and they responded with this:

The manufacturer recommends using at least a +45MM offset for the rear of the Marauder. The +40MM may still work but we cannot guarantee you wouldn't experience some rubbing under hard acceleration.

So if I got them would a 1/4" spacer give me enough clearance even with wider rear tires?

(MM wheels) ... They are billet aluminium. Cut from a solid piece of aluminium. That’s a big part of why they cost so much ...

OEM MM wheels are not billet - they are much better - they are forged.

That should fit fine almost flush. The calipers aren't really a problem unless you do a 17" or smaller wheel.

My concern is clearing my front Wilwoods on a 20x8 through 20x9 wheel.

It is tight with the factory 50mm offset wheels.

http://mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32680

So my concern is adding a spacer to any offset < 50 and not having the wheels stick out from the fender.
