Could be true...could be false. Either way...this thing is AWESOME!!!

From Mustang Weekly
FORD GT 565 HP TO THE TIRES
An engineering firm that has been doing development work on a Ford GT, reported that on their chassis dyno, a "well broke in" Ford GT made 565 horsepower to the rear wheels. They went on to say that the car was hazing the tires on the dyno and they believed the real numbers are quite a bit higher.

Ya know Todd, that's funny you should post this, because I was just thinking yesterday about how eventually there will be companies here and there who will tweak some more HP out of the alreay mighty GT.........(interesting).

I noticed that on the original "walk around" video of the GT that's on the GT website(they changed it about a month ago) it showed the engine, and I saw headers on that thing. they were inverted like the ones on the V8 engine race boats, and it looked like they were chrome plated. Who knows, maybe they're double walled headers like on the Harley to prevent blueing. But I made me think of how you probably can easily squeeze 30HP more out of the car just by using different mufflers and cats.

It's my understanding that even though the engine does have a nice V8 growl to it, it's relatively quiet just like our Marauders are w/the stock exhaust on them. So I'm sure that even though it has a very short exhaust system, it's still a bit restrictive.

I also wonder about that Supercharger on the GT. I know that it's an Eaton Supercharger which is the same brand that Trilogy sells for our cars. Obviously the GT has to be running a higher boost pressure than the Trilogy cars are, and more than the Ford Lightning is too since the GT puts out about 110 more HP than the lightning does w/the same 5.4L displacement as the Lightning. But I wonder if the Supercharger on the GT is also the same model as the Trilogy one and the Ford Lightning one is.

Ofcourse I realize that the GT must have higher performance cylinder heads than the Lightning does too, which would aslo account for the extra power. I also realize that the GT isn't neccessarily a drag car, since it's strong point is it's handling prowess that is due in part to it's mid-engine design. However because of it's awesome power output, and because the mid-engine design also gives the car excellent traction capabilities during acceleration, I'd love to see one at the dragstrip some day, and I'd particularly be interested in finding out what kind of 60 foot times this car is capable of on it's factory stock tires. My guess is that even w/the stock tires this car will crush the 60' times that ANY Marauder will accomplish weather it be S/Ced or not!!!!

My guess would be that since the best 60' times of any Marauder that I've seen posted on here is a 1.8, that the GT is probably blasting through that first 60 feet at the dragstrip in about a 1.2.

Yep, that's what it needs: a little more power! Bag-of-snakes headers, Kenne Bell supercharger, high flow cats, high flow mufflers, nitrous....

uhmm, I dunno if I'd go that far.........I mean 500HP and 500 ft/lbs Tq in the stock configuration isn't anything to sneeze at. And how many places on the public streets can you really use every bit of 500HP? I'm sure that I'd have fun trying, but in my homestate you really wouldn't be able to use all the power if you started throwing NO2 on top of 500HP.

That engine is an engineering marvel I'm sure, as is the suspension and entire package. So some minor exhaust changes would be one thing, but I don't think that I'd want to open up the internals and perform surgery on the thing. But then again, I guess that none of us(especially me) will ever have that decision to make anyway. :(
