More power than the SHO and will weigh less but only RWD.

Could turn out to be a nice car.

RWD FTW and good power. Just not feeling the four door theme.

But I said the same thing about the Charger and eventually I began to like the Charger.

The manufacturers are getting it ass-backwards these days; they take vehicle nameplates that had many engine options and stuff only one engine in them (one type of V8 for Mustangs and Camaros, etc.), but they take a nameplate that denoted only one type of engine and then they give you options on it. Ridiculousness.

ChiTownMaraud3r

Stupid.

Why not a two door muscle turbo 6 like in the 80s? Buick already has enough boring looking sedans.

This reminds me of the Charger name coming back (which I have grown to like) and then recently with the Dodge dart...

At least leave the GNX name out of it.

Yes, yes. Buick just wants in on the retro nameplate but GM won't let em do anything for fear of taking sales away from Camaro..you know like Ford did with Mercury...

Same thing when the mark came out in 93, ford racing guys hated when they made that famous 180mph run. Think they had lincoln motorsports on the semi and was made to take it down...idk there's an article somewhere.
But being a 4 door and 400hp under the camaros HP I doubt it will step on toes. This car probably won't be built tho

And to get COMPLETELY off track I remember reading a sales ad back in 93 saying they tested the 4.6DOHC motors in several special fitted town cars, anyone ever hear of this???

I remember they had the 4.6 in several 1990Towncars to test it out before replacing the 5.0. A DOHC in a 93 TC would have been nice. They were pretty peppy with the SOHC.

These marketing people make high 5-6 figures and all they can come up with is old nameplates ( I get why). How about a new original name for a muscle sedan. Earn your money.

I have that 1993 Mark VIII brochure that mentions that the DOHC 4.6 was tested in a fleet of Town Cars before it hit the Mark VIII. It would be neat to find that DOHC engine in a Town Car, it would be like the Marauder's older, more formal cousin!

Does anyone else find it funny that the "Cobra" motor started life not in a Mustang like everyone would like you to believe but in the Mark VIII? Even the Continental had that engine (1995) before the Mustang did (1996)!

As far as the new GN/GNX being a sedan, it is disappointing, but it's to be expected given market demands nowadays. Coupes just don't sell, which is why Cadillac hardly moves the CTS Coupe and has been hesitant to make an ATS Coupe. Maybe if Cadillac greenlights an ATS coupe, Buick will follow suit.

The SS looks like a damn malibu... they ruined that car. Atleast the power plant is the same... I would rather find a certified used G8 just due to the car looks 3 times better.

and that buick looks wack... like all the other buicks on the road

I don't think the Chinese market cares if it's callled a Buick Special, Century, Roadmaster, GNX, Gran National, Skylark, or Super.

Ford better wake up and do something about Lincoln, otherwise they will become a truck and lower/medium class car manufacturer (with the Mustang thrown in just for kicks).

And, with the Koreans heading upstream, that could be trouble.

On another forum, it was posted that there was a hint from the Ford CEO that the Thunderbird name wasn't completely dead, but that it was very hard to market/sell a two seater vehicle. (How does GM do it?)

As a 2003 TBird owner, the last thing I want to see is an everyday Ford sedan with a "Thunderbird" nameplate.

For should do something bold...like bring back the Mercury brand with all retro cars.
Big car-Marauder, base and S55 trim---5.0/5.0L supercharged
Medium car-Torino, base and Cobra Jet trim--4.6/5.0L supercharged
Sports- Cougar, XR-7 5.0L and XR-7G trim---4.6/5.0L supercharged
Small car-Comet base and sport trim-4.6L

Sorry I love the 5.0 engine...no less than V8's...It's a Mercury!!!!

Mercury, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Plymouth will never come back, IMHO. (Why would they ever come back? Did the DeSoto ever come back?)

Great brands, great cars, great history, but they are linked with the past, not the future.

The Chinese don't have the foggiest idea what a Turnpike Cruiser/Montclair/Sun Valley; Fury/Belvedere; Starfire/J2/88/Super 88/98; or a Bonneville/Grand Prix is, and they don't care.

Sad to say, but true.

(I'm actually surprised that Buick brought back a name from the past. Give them some credit for not throwing US car history completely out the window.)
