Ah the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Second oldest race in the US. I was born and raised on the foot of that mountain. My dad made his living driving 15 passenger vans up and down that very road. That was shot in '89. I was 11. I was probably there on the sideline somewhere. I wouldn't have paid much attention to that Peugot, I was always on the lookout for the Porsches. Thanks for posting that bit of nostalgia...makes me miss being home.

DANG! I never realized the road was that narrow, or that there weren't any guard rails along the outer edge.

Kinda gives a guy a whole new level of respect for what ol' Parnelli Jones did with his Marauder back in 1964.

It's changed now, they paved it all the way to the summit. They also put in guard rails in some spots. I think it's wider than it looks at speed from a bumper cam too.

Watching those guys come back down the mountain is even more impressive if you ask me, they don't have gravity working in their favor at that point.

And yeah, Parnelli Jones was the man. :bows:
