I was reading a older thread in the transmission forum where mauraderjack suggested adding ford friction modifier to the trans to see if it will fix harsh shifts due to worn out fluid, also rf overlord gave a p/n for the "u-hall"trans pan which has a drain plug installed, wasent much money so I orderd both. I was having harsh shifts on my marauder, which has 64k miles, the fluid looked clean but that really does not mean the additives are worn out so today I added the friction modifier and sure enough after a few miles PROBLEM FIXED!! so now I need to change out the fluid.
also, while I was out for the test drive I was stopped at a red light in a left hand turn only lane, the two lanes to the right of me had the green...a guy stops next to me in a jeep, beeps the horn a few times and gave me a thumbs up!! all around a good day! just one word of advice if you want to try the friction modifier to see if it helps your trans shift...add it outside! it stunk out my garage, had to air it out a couple hours! lol.
thanks again for the tips:beer:
