Unfortunately, yes. No fun.

Oh, and while you have it out, replace the oil cooler seals and gaskets (there's 4 O-rings, and two gaskets) if you haven't done that yet. My buddy's 99 F250 had a lovely mixture of oil/coolant in both systems. It was really fun flushing all that out, all because of an O ring!

And may as well just reseal the whole damn engine if you're taking it out! :lol:

It would be easier to pull the motor. I did one back in '04 and it's a lot easier to do the pan w/the motor out and upside down!

thanks i have to figure out the cheapest way ,its my winter vehicle and my snow plow,Pretty rusty,may have to sell the MM for a newer plow truck or mount the plow on my mm.

Can you try some epoxy or JB Weld on the hole?

I used seal all on a hole a couple of months ago,I got a little over zealous cleaning it before trying it again ,bigger hole and three more.I'll try it tomorrow ,hope it works ,have a feeling the pan is thin all over.

Drain the oil, clean the rust off, trowl METAL based body filler over the affected area.

The metal filler with hardener will bond to pan & seal holes. after it hardens, spray with a rust ender paint bomb to prevent further swiss cheese.

I have even patched rust perforated or punctured gas tanks this way.

Unbolt the cab mounts and motor mounts pull out the fan shroud and put a wood block under the crank pulley then jack the motor and cab to the moon to slide the pan out.. it works I've done it a ton of times you can have it out in an hour and a half

these guys are out of Avon Ma.and thier kit is less than a new pan and no engine removal.
