Last week I received an e-mail on an official looking paypal page, they said they needed to update my info to help upgrade their security. It really was an exact copy of paypals page ,as I looked through the info they were requesting nothing looked unusual until they asked for the pin # to my bank account.Paypal already has all my c/c and checking account info but asking for my pin?I logged off the page and called paypal the next day they confirmed it was a scam to try and get my c/c and bank info. The e-mail was addressed to my e-mail address ; dear ****@aol ,the rep said they never send e-mails that way, if there from paypal they will be addressed to you by name.

This has been going on for some time. PayPal will not contact you for any information......when you log into your account they will ask if anything is needed.

NEVER follow those links.....

PayPal, Ebay, Your Credit Card Company, all sorts of things .
The fargin' sneaky bastigez will try to get your info any way possible.
The best way to get around it is when you get the email, visit the offical site of your provider by opening their page directly ( not off the suspect email!) and inquiring.

Same type thing was happening on Earthlink last month.
Capital punishment for scammers? Shall we do a poll?

for what it's worth, a number of people on the board that I used to be a moderator on had said that they've had a lot of problems with paypal anyway, and one of them was a business owner who used to use them.

I say "for what it's worth" because unfortunately I don't recall what all the details were. Only that the business owner who also stated that was someone who I used to deal with, and who said that paypal refused to take any actions to correct some discrepencies that he was experiencing with their service.

I'm not neccessarily suggesting that you avoid doing business w/any place that uses paypal. You'll have to draw your own conclusion concerning that. I'm just suggesting that when you do business w/any place, it might be a good idea to use another means that they offer for payment than paypal. And I also want to make it clear that I am NOT saying that any business should be in question simply because they do offer paypal as one of the options to purchase their products. ;)

Same thing happened to me last week! They even gave the last four of my credit card (but got the very last number wrong, that's how I knew it was bogus!)
I gave them Logan's # -- was that allright?

Stay alert!

Forward the message to spoof@paypal.com

They have a department that tracks and investigates these crooks.

eBay does too, and there are similar scam messages that try to get your eBay info. forward them to spoof@ebay.com

Yes, eBay is kind of like Microsoft in that way. If an on-line auction related business comes along, such as Pay Pal, eventually eBay will own it, or put it out of business
