So my 165k Crown Victoria needs 1100 worth of work so I think I going to start looking at maybe a used mustang at a dealership . Any members out there want to give me some pointers to what to look for ? I looking around the year 2007-2011,under 50k on the clock . V6 ? V8?

I would love a gt500 but could never make the payments on it .also I don't want a huge payment so I can keep buying parts for the marauder :)

the v6 is a lot of fun the 300hp ones but it needs a gear
the problem I see with getting a gt is it will take you away from the marauder

I would check with your insurance agent for a quote as well..Although you are over 25 years old, Mustangs often have higher insurance rates due to the younger age bracket owning them and running them hard...at least here it tends to fall out that way..also, it may not be a great choice for winter use..they are a little light in the back end. I'm not trying to take away from the mustang at all, i like them, it may be my next car whenever I decide to part with my Marauder. A supercharged coyote or the GT500 could fit the bill someday for me.

V6 'stangs are for chicks. :D

Check with the Mustang forums as they will know the cars and their issues. :)

What exactly costs $1100? Doesn't sound major...

What kind of budget did you have in mind? Check the s197forum so you get an idea on the 3v gt or 3.7 v6. I have a 2006 Mustang GT premium and is a very fun car to drive. Build quality is tons better than the SN95 not to mention feels solid. The 3v makes over 300rwhp pretty easily with boltons. I am making 289rwhp/307rwtq with just CAI/FRPP exhaust/Bama tune. Lots of Mustangs out there with a SC as well so Good luck!

If the rest of the crown vic is decent..dropping $1100 for those maintenance items/wear items seems better than having a car payment..but that is me..have not had a car payment since 1997 when I paid my truck off early

then keep it for another year or so. if the rest isn;t going to nickle and dime you..it'll be cheaper than car payments for the present time.

Don't forget, if you buy a used car, sooner or later you are going to need to do a lot of the same stuff. I just went thru this same exercise. Sometimes its better to keep what you got because you KNOW what you got. A <50k mile car or so is gonna be due for brakes soon in most cases anyway.

Repeat after me....Trilogy, Trilogy, Trilogy... ;) :P :burnout:

Brakes and rotors: Go on Ebay and buy from the same seller that I bought the Marauder brakes from. That's under $200 with free shipping. We could do that at my house over a case of beer. Is it the CO2 sensor (which I haven't heard of) or the O2 sensor? As far as tires go, I know several people who work at tire shops and could mount and balance for a severely reduced rate. The only thing that would need to be taken care of at a shop is the leaky oil pan. Shoot me a text man.

Agree $1100 now definitely beats payments for the next 4-5 years

As someone who owned both a 5.0 and the MM at the same time, I vehemently disagree.

Yes, the 5.0 was faster (barely), but the MM is just so damn cool.
