After years of waiting for the right one, and seeing many of the wrong one, on my way to dinner Saturday evening I seen this beauty on the side of the road. One phone call and 30 minutes later she was all mine. Less than 12 hours later she had a new rear gear, btw 2.73 has to be the worst gear ratio ever put in a car from ford.
She is a 1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, thats right, carbureted 351 under that hood lol.

It's a 351W engine?
What's the mileage?
It should have a high top end with the 2.73, Nice!

Reminds me of mine, except mine is 1988. Two big black cars go well together.

Nice find! I would've thought it would be EFI in 1991. Is the carb a Variable Venturi?

The Police Interceptors came with the Variable Venturi if ordered with the 351 till the last year. Absolutely no Emissions came on it either, lol. Civilians could order it the same way with the 351 and no emissions, they just had to pay a $1000 EPA Gas Guzzler tax, so you can imagine how many civilian models have it lol.

It is the 351.
Its got either 22,000 miles, or 122,000, or 222,000. 322,000 is possible but i have my doubts lol.
Ya, with the 2.73 she would not even go into OD till about 65 lol. I had some time Sunday so I put a 3.27 in it, seems to like it pretty good. Does not turn too many RPM's at 80 but definitely feels alot better 0-50 ha.

I just had my smog check done and I failed. The Variable Venturi apparently had a problem with the diaphram. Its in the shop now getting fixed so that I can complete my registration renewal.
Mine does have one oxygen sensor, smog air pump, feedback, and catalytic converters.

She sure is beautiful. Something about these cars I just love, and yours is a nice example. Mine does not have the smog pump or catalytic converters, and the exhaust appears completely factory. No cuts, still has the ford stamps.
I am fortunate to live in a county that does not do inspections or emissions. California would bury me under the jail if they looked under my cars lol.

Ha, thanks man, I do appreciate it. The motor comes out tomorrow, time to get to work.

I realize you have checked , but I always thought the rear gear was 3:27 till
'99 when they went to 3:55's............great find as I started out with an '88 model ....enjoy..

Ya, P71's usually come with a 3.27 or can be ordered with a 3.55 after 99. In mines years, I have seen them with both a 2.73 and 3.27. Seems 3.27 was the more common option on p71's and 2.73 on P72's. Captain needed better fuel economy lol.
Surprisingly, over the years I have picked up two late 2000's interceptors from auction with 2.73's in them. One appeared to have been changed later in life, but one truly appeared factory. I have never seen 2.73 as an option in later years but it sure was in one.
