Spotted new Dodge Magnum R/t

I was out by Texas Motor Speedway, taking a Saturday drive when I spotted a close to DTR red Dodge vehicle. Very similar to the 300M at the front end. It had Michigan Mfr. plates.
Got my Autoweek later yesterday and there's a 2 page article on it. Looks like the same car, right color. It's a rwd wagon although the rear of it is so low it's almost a fast back. I'm not to crazy about their direction with the front end but at least they are trying. With the hemi, Mercedes 6-speed auto tranny and rwd it ought to be an interesting match for the MM, base price 29,995 . I hope Ford/LM tries some more combos with rwd and the 4.6 dohc.

That base price does not get you the Hemi engine, or a whole lot of other options comparable to what is standard on a Marauder.

I don't understand it, but Daimler-Chrysler loves that big truck grille. It's appearing on everything

The R/T has the Hemi, and its slightly under $30k w/ the package I want, about the same price as a Marauder but you get an OHV Hemi engine.

If you opt for all those useless accessories, then yeah - it'd be more expensive than a Marauder based on MSRP.

FYI, Dodge considers it a truck - not a RWD sedan. :) :rasta:

I have a friend at work who is a big mopar fan... Enough benchmarking, I may have to start the mods....

Preliminary performance figures for Hemi models (the cars are not yet in full production and have not been tested thoroughly in final form) are:
340 horsepower @ 5,200 rpm
365 lb-ft torque @ 4,000 rpm
0-60 in 6.5 seconds (compare to roughly 7 seconds in the V6 300M)
Top speed of 150 mph +
Quarter mile in 14.7 seconds

Yes they do. It's to avoid CAFE/EPA, just like they did with the PT Cruiser
