View Full Version : What to expect at Marauderville?

1) weather in Atlanta in mid September should be about mid 80, warm during the day and unbelievably pleasant in the evening
2) we will be about 25 miles north of downtown Atlanta. Hotel is based right at the highway that takes you there, very easy
3) you'll Atlantans tell you you have to go to varsity. It's a bun filled with grease with a little bit of hot dog. Those of you from the Midwest and northeast won't find anything special about it, but for those interested there is one 9 miles away
4) this is the home of the Waffle House, they are on virtually every corner with 3 being within 3 miles of the Hotel
5) we will fill the Tilted Kilt parking lot, and will overflow into adjacent lots. They are taking a gamble on us as we will pretty much have run of house. I'm going to ask them to over staff, please make sure to take care of the servers
6) bring your radios, we will have lots of driving, it will be important to be able to hear instructions
7) if you do not have a radio, they can be bought at any Walmart or target for like $20, highly recommended
8) please review the itinerary thread, this has all the addresses in it, please pre-program you GPS. While we will have the ability to line up in one group for the highway onslaught, physics suggest sooner or later the pack will get split
9) questions, feel free to pm myself, CWright or GAMike
Now a few more
1) everyone is expected to break tread once on this trip at least
2) don't be scared if you leave late, you drive a Marauder, you can still arrive early
3) I'm the fattest and unhealthiest in the planning group, if you want to ingest things bad for you, I'm your guy
Everyone feel free to add tips

In case you were wondering........... Discount Tire is about 1 mile down the road from the hotels...... They know we are coming!!! We will have some stuff from them for all attendee's and they know what our rear tire sizes / brand preferences are..... In most cases we can call, and the tires will be there in under 2 hours..... Not bad:beer::burnout:

If you are looking for a break from the day's scheduled activities, my wife and I were in Atlanta the last week of July. If you are a fan of The Walking Dead we ended up in a little town south of Atlanta called Senoia. It is the "Governor's" town of Woodbury in the show. It was a cool little town to spend the afternoon in. Had an great dinner with her best friend from high school at the Southern Ground Social Club and they have live music many nights. Bring your zombie repellent.

If they run the laps like they did at CMS for MV8, there will be a pace as well as a chase car to keep the group of cars out on the track pretty much together.
We were told they'd hold us to around 70 mph...
They loosened up a bit after the first two laps (chase car dropped back a bit) and the groups spread out a little more, a few guys were able to hang back and open it up some, but they DID NOT allow any passing or screwing around out on the track.

Oh and make sure you top off your tank the night before the trip to AMS..... its around 50-60 miles give or take to the track from the hotel.
That and 10 laps like we ran @ MV8 can drain a tank:D:eek:
That's the really cool thing about Maraudervilles... Being able to get out and drive your vehicles not just from destination to destination, but on some pretty amazing race tracks as well....
If you enjoy quality "seat time" in your Marauder.... This is the event you want to attend period.......:drive:See ya when ya get here!:banana2:

There are a bunch of Carwashes on Pleasant Hill Road (about 5 miles away from the hotels) Role through or do it yourself..... If you want a pro make you arrangements with Bobby Simmons (678) 883-6364 .... He will have your Marauder in pristine shape.. Call him before you come for an appointment either the week of MV or for a slot Saturday morning before the Car Show:)
