I picked up my second Glass Hood today. I will post some comparison pictures Sunday, but the bulge in the center is not as large as seen in the pictures. There is more fiber glass in the hood then the previous model. That's a plus in my book because I thought it was on the thin side. Hopefully I can get it painted in the next couple of weeks. More details to come. For now I am very happy with the new hood, better then I expected. :D

Bottom of the page. $495 plus shipping or could drive up to Cumberland, MD and pick it up. It would probably be cheaper to rent a truck or van than it would be to cheap since Cumberland is less than 3 hrs from Burke.

Man of course. Mine has a problem. :mad2:
So the final delivery team seemed to be worried that I see the hood. So I stay home from work. Sure enough when it arrives the box is bent. We open it up and the drivers side corner is chipped. A few scuffs but structure is OK otherwise.
Never worked with fiberglass before so I call up Bob and talk it through and he says that should be able to be repaired no problem. So I keep the hood but mark it on the receipt.
As you can see the black coating is chipped but the underlying fiberglass is OK. How hard is that coating to repair? How do I do it? If I wait will the body shop charge me hundreds to do it when when they paint it? :depress:
TIA.

No idea. Not sure what to do next. If its a $100 or less or something I can do I'll probably just eat it but I don't know what kind of filler you'd use on that.
I'm planning on doing the underhood sanding myself, so I'll be spending some time on it either way.

Does anyone know if the stock hood blanket will fit?
Natch there will be a big gap underneath the mat and airflow would be blocked. The hump and vent would be cut off from the engine. You would probably need to do something custom to take advantage of the vents.
Custom mat seems plausible though.

No it will not

:depress:
TIA.

This will be the least of your problems, so keep it and fix it. Maybe grab what $$ you can from the freight company....

That was how I read it. Why I didn't send it back. Delivery guy was cool was ready for a refusal. He even initialed my description of the problem on the receipt. Lets see what it costs before I hassle them.
It's a damn cool hood. Looks like it took quite a beating to get that little chip.

I replaced my hood hinges with new OEM ones. I'm not sure if you will run into any problems. I did on my install. And even though I used the recommended hood shocks, I still have a bulge on my right side. I recommend fitting the new hood yourself before you send it to have it finished. That way any dips or waves you create installing it can be fixed before you have it painted. Just my .02.....

The underside of the hood isn't gelcoated. Perhaps I should do that too while I'm at it. I'd like it to be smooth.
Hey, I've got a body guy in Pompano that is going to finish mine for me. He does a lot of custom cars. Check him out @ www.madmods.com his name is Bob too. Lol

Keep in mind everyone! These hoods will have to be filled, sanded, primed and painted.

Yes OEM latches and hinges will carry over. Like Invader said you should test fit it on the car before sending it off for paint and all.

On the classglass hood, were there any markings or predrilled holes for the two hinges?

Is yours a bit wavy?
It had some waves in it after it sat out in the sun for a couple days, but thats normal with fiberglass panels, it was prepped before painting so now its right.
