I have 4:10s, a jerry W. tune. I had a J-mod done and love the hard shifts. During the life of the car, is the hard shifting going to be a detriment to the tranny or any other parts,,u-joint, gears, axels etc?

No.... it's actually better for the tranny. Should have no adverse effects on the rest of the drivetrain.

After the J-Mod my 1-2 shift was so hard it would almost give ya whiplash!!
Drove it about a year with no other problems but had to soften it up in the tune under light throttle......still slams on hard acceleration!!
That was 90K miles ago and still working great......:burnout:

I had to back my 1-2 shift down to 5% as it was way too harsh even with a aftermarket converter to soften up the shifts some. After getting more into the trans parameters of my tune I have Light Throttle set at 3%, Medium Throttle set at 3% and Heavy Throttle set at 4% for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I didn't make any adjustment to the 3-4 shift. Driving in wet weather it would get squirrelly or when making a turn over a distance where it would shift as the weight was transferring to the outside.
Having the pressure set all the way up overtime could lead to premature wear on other components outside of the transmission. Think of it as driving a manual and banging it into 2nd gear every time you drive it.
This is my 1-2 shift @ 5%
