I am torn between two bicycles and I don't know which one...
Maybe you guys can help me decide.

Raleigh Detour 4.5 or Cannondale Quick 6 (both 17" frame / 26" wheels / BLACK)

Both can be purchased at Dannyscycles.com.
A bicycle store local to me in Scarsdale.
They offer a three year warranty for FREE to all their customers
that purchase any bicycle from them.

Have you looked into Trek, Specialized, and/or Jamis?

I own and prefer Specialized, but I have ridden a Cannondale and it was a sweet bike.
Don't know anything about Raleigh, except that I had a 1 speed Raleigh as a kid and it took a hell of a beating and kept going....LOL.

Have you taken a test ride on both of them? That's what I would suggest. I ride an old Cannondale M 200 mountain bike, converted it to a urban/recreational type, with Shimano XT brakes, Serfas seat and Continental 'Goliath" tires, suspension seat post, adjustable handlebar stem. I ride on asphalt and low trails, tires are a little slippery on wet pavement. I just ride three to four times a month for about ten miles around town, country roads, and some off road trails, paths, nothing extreme.

What are you going to ride on? for how long? That should be your determining factor. Tires and Brakes are the most important systems on a bike IMO. My son rides Specialized and swears by them.

I ride a Cannondale Jekyl, full suspension and love it. They stopped making them though, so I upgrade parts when needed. Had a Trek hard tale as well.

Thanks for your replies.

I am going to be riding around the Kensico Dam area for exercise with a friend.
So I'm looking for a reliable bicycle that is going to last long and not wear out quickly.
I've know Raleigh for years, even as a teenager. Don't know if they are the same company today.
Cannondale is a new name to me but from the looks of their frame construction, they are a serious bike manufacturer.

I'm going to try and test ride one of each this weekend.
Hopefully I'll have one by Tuesday.

Thanks !!

But components make the bike not the brand of frame for a simple trail bike! Fox, shimano, and Hayes brakes are the only brands I trust!

I ended up purchasing a $300 Trayl Trax bicycle from Sports Authority.
The bicycle has excellent reviews from several customers.
A 3 years warranty was $60 and the guys at Sports Authority
hooked me up with coupons for $$$$.
I ended up walking out of the store with everything I needed
and the warranty for less than $340.

They spoke with me about Danny's Bicycle shop.
They said his bicycles were very good quality and
he is a little more expensive than most shops,
but Danny's would be the place to go
once I've grown out of this bicycle.
