View Full Version : looking for luxury paint body shop in Vancouver, BC
Does anyone here know of a good luxury paint body shop in Vancouver, Canada.
I've already discussed the vehicle with places such as Burrard Autostrausse, No1 Collision and Richmond Autobody.
It needs to be someone that can handle, not only black paint, but to be able to achieve perfection (the vehicle has, what is called, Luxury Paint allowance) and be able to cutpolish (after paint) for removal of orange peel.
The booth needs to be a downdraft booth with low likelihood of any dustknib accumulation etc.
I am having some repainting needing to be done to many of the panels and/or cutpolishing.

Several years ago, I needed to get my black Land Cruiser's (long since gone) roof repainted, and I had the same dilemma you have. I went to the BMW dealer, the Lexus dealer and the Mercedes dealer, to figure out what body shop they all used. That's the one I went to, and the paint was perfect.

Look up your local Auto/paint supplier, IE: DuPont, PPG and ask for recommendations

I second N40GL. I did the same and they all used the same shop around me also, I went there and it was excellent work at a good price too!

What kind of vehicle is this exactly? Different shops do well with different marques due to painter's expertise. My wife's LandRover LR3 went to one place, then another.

Have you checked in with MOPAC in Langley? They are the go to for major mods on muscle cars and high end imports......they would have some suggestions as to good paint shops for detailed work. They did work on my Marauder, they are good guys at a fair price.

Thanks N40GL, that's what I've been doing, on and off, for years here in Vancouver, although, the problem is is that all those body shops that work on BMWs, Mercedes, Land Rover etc don't want to touch an american car.
I did find one luxury body shop called No1 Collision that specializes in BMWs and Mercedes but for some reason the owner questioned the billing process (the insurance company has set out the instructions for the shop to bill the previous body shop who screwed up and that the insurance company would step in to handle it if need be) and he bailed out.
I do believe Corvette Specialties in Surrey and Bow Tie Restorations in Langley are ideal from what I see thus far.
JeffeOneBuck, that's a good idea, I will try that although the paint rep for my paint (Glasurit) had taken the side of the failing body shop that painted my car (who said RE the fish eye all over my hood and fiberglass wing) that You Can't Fix What You Can't See); that was superb. The insurance company loved it when I told them that.
Taemian, it's a 1994 Chevrolet Impala SS painted Glasurit90 waterborne paint with no orange peel (cutpolished) two-stage base/clear
BC Marauding: I will give Mopac a call

I find it hard to believe that ICBC would do such a thing for the billing process. Check again, or check farther up the food chain.
Bowtie here in Langley have a good rep. You can tell alot about a firm by their workshop. Have you seen the grounds of CS lately??

It's been my experience that Mopac is a high $$ ripoff org, with George being first and foremost the biggest ******* in the motorsport community. Sure, if you want to buy some new cams or an SSBC kit, they can get it for you. But anything serious, and the customer service falls into the crapper. Check around, most guys in the local modding circles have nothing but crap to say about them.
Run the **** away from this vendor
Of course, YMMV.

it's done alot actually, when one shop can't continue the work, icbc allows another shop to bill the first shop (then ICBC takes it out of their invoicing).
