So figured this day would come, after about 6k with the supercharger I got a knocking now since tues/wed. Of course it was supposed to go on the dyno today to perfect the tune we put in and decided to not chance it and blow it up, my mechanic says he thinks a wrist pin. So my question is do I rebuild or go with a Terminator block? I can get a block with about 28k on it that i know is good for about $1500 or keep it with the original block and rebuild it with new pistons etc. My HP numbers i would like to be is about 450rwhp (its my daily) so im not looking for big numbers and he says parts prob about $1000 and then labor 800-1000 for him.
P.s. sorry if I put this in the wrong sub forum, since i was SC I figured I'd post in here....

If you can do the rebuild that inexpensive, that'd be my choice.

Craigslist bro. I literally just put together a cobra shortblock for almost nothing.

why bother with the Cobra block? Our block isn't a weak point at all, no one is hurting blocks due to power. You only hurt these blocks when something inside breaks and causes damage to the block... Just put good parts in your current block, don't waste $1500 on a new block unless the parts inside come apart and hurt the block.

Re-build it. Cobra short blocks fetch way more money than what they really should. Its easier to build something better anyway. Besides 03/04 Pistons have a HUGE problem with being under high loads and rubbing the walls because they are so tight. Which is why 5th-6th gear pulls are frequently the death of OEM shortblocked terminators.

Had the MM ever been on a Dyno since the S/c?
Doesn't matter what you do if the tune ain't right it's gonna break.
To answer your question how much power is your goal? Most Eaton set ups I have seen on this site produce HP that an OEM engine can easily handle.

i say re use your wap block as the cobra is cast iron and you will gain 75-85lbs, like mentioned before check craigslist, get a cobra kellogg crank, some nice rods and pistons and you'll be set for a good long time, do it once do it right..someone correct me if i'm wrong but the cobra block is 2bolt main while the teksid and wap blocks are 4bolt mains, the more the better..
