Anyone here have a 1/2 court or so indoor basketball court? I am looking to build one for the family.
I am looking for ideas and actual measurements of sidewalls and interior truss heights.

Thanks.

I live like 2ish miles from LeBron James 36,000 sq foot house where I know he has a 2 lane blowling alley..prolly has a court of some sort too. But I don't think I'll get past the 15 foot wrought iron gates and the 24-7 security out front.

I delivered fitness equipment for a short spell and came across a half court buried every bit of 15-20' deeper than the regular basement in just a regular smaller scale "McMansion" Pretty unbelievable looking through the windows down at it. I couldn't image the cost factor.

This will be above ground court. Trying to decide if 16 or 14 foot height will work with scissor trusses will work. I know if a person was shooting from half court that would not work, but from only a little past the three circle, I think 14 could work. Just want to see if anyone has actual experience with a building they have or have played in. Thanks again.

In the words of President Bush.... "Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent"

I've driven past it..It's in a subdivision that only has one entrance to it so it's not really any adavtange for anything like shortcutting or whatever. it has a heck of a nice security shack, well its more than a shack.

The rim is 10ft and the top of the backboard would be close to 12 ft so I dont think you would get away with a 14 ft ceiling height. If everyone shoots a line drive maybe but that sounds way to low for a court ceiling. Just my .02.

Not tryinig to be a smart-a$$, but...

www.google.com (http://www.google.com)

I searched it because I was curious myself and found this info within 30 seconds:

Building an indoor basketball court inside your home can be fun and yet ... least 25 feet by 40 feet (half-court dimensions) with a ceiling height of at least 27 feet.

Thanks for the reply. Wish i would have thought of using google. JK

I tried google and yahoo been to the local gym ect. I have even tried to measure the arch of a few different shooters. While a google answer is great I was asking and hoping for someone that had actual first hand experience with a building used for dual purposes. I doubt 20 27 feet is actually required for half court home use.
