Well today I got smacked in the rear by some guy pulling up to a red light guess he wasn't paying attention, minds starts to race thinking damn where am I going to find another rear bumper. I got out of the car expecting the worst and notice that my bumper was still on my car and intact so it wasn't too bad. I pulled over to get his information and he started asking my why I slammed on my brakes. I calmly explained its a red light. So he starts to tell me that he has a shop down the street blah blah so i go over to the shop his boss comes outs and looks at the damage and tells me he has a body shop that he owns down the street and to bring my car there tomorrow morning and pick it up at 5.
At first I wanted to ask you guys what I should do, but after getting home and looking under the car I notice a couple of more problems bumper came loose (not that serious) the bushing that holds the right tail pipe in place has rip so now i have a hanging right exhaust, and the worst thing I've seen so far is that my impact bar did its job and is now fractured. The crack is from about the middle of the bar going to the bottom i think..
Now that I think about it, must have been a customers car because he went to go get his boss when he hit me..
so now I ask what should my next move (I know call insurance) be I've never been in a accident where I was behind the wheel so this is new to me. I'll see if I can post some pictures

Shoulda rolled outa the car, grabbed your neck screaming, kibby on the ground for a bit until someone dials 911... :D At least you're ok. Those guys sound a bit shady. I'd want to watch any work they did personally.

My initial (and gut reaction) is to call insurance ASAP. the whole thing sounds pretty sketch to me.. of course the guy may be legit and honest. But I would hate for you to get your car back from the shop and weeks later some other issue arrives.
That being said, glad you're ok and sorry to hear about the mishap. Sounds like it's deff repairable/fixable

Did you have the police come out? The first thing you want to do is get it all down in writing, with the officer as a witness, so when the other guy's insurance balks because he said it was YOUR fault, you'll have some back up.

#1...DO NOT LET THEM DO ANY WORK ON YOUR CAR!!! Like the others have said, call your insurance and go somewhere else. Even if you go to a Dealer. The guy who hit you already tried to blame you, more than likely his boss is the same. Be nice and say thanks, but my buddy will do it for nothing or something like that. Don't let them even asses your car...

You want this reported in case something goes sour you want the ball in your court. If there going to fix it make sure u can watch them. Take pics befor and after. This is why i dont really drive my car and when i do im allways checking my rear view especially when coming to a stop

You already did too much in their favor and not enough in yours (calling the police). It's time to just politely say it's been handed over to the insurance. Did you copy his info from his license and insurance at least? His plate and VIN? You pay for insurance for cases such as this, now its time for them to handle it.

You got rear ended, the first thing you should have done was called the law.
You would not get a ticket.
Wait till you wake up in the morning with a sore neck.
Call your insurance.

You should have dialed 911 had the police come out and file an accident report, that is what any insurance company is going to want.

Philadelphia County police will not show unless someone was hurt, my reason for not calling, but I called insurance company, got it all down and what not, now the mission is to find out if this car was a customers. Which they will be trying to find out so far now, I guess I can say lesson learned and I know what to do next time (hopefully I don't have a next time) and thanks Ms. Denmark

If you have the other guys info you can go to any police district in the city and they will prepare a report for you.
You shouldn't have to contact your insurance at all. It's his insurance company's responsibility to fix your car since you we're rear ended.
If you need a referral for a body shop I jus got rear ended in Aug and I used a good shop that did the work right. I had very minor damage so it wasn't a big deal.
For future reference always get the other drivers license info, veh info and of course insurance, phone number too.
Good luck with your repairs.

So sorry to hear about all this...
But now you do know the procedures if anything happens in future...
As my two porsche driving lawyer-up cousins always opine, "ALWAYS CALL YOUR LAWYER...and get boucoup paperwork...phone numbers...police reports/badge numbers...anything that can verify in writing or in photos what YOUR position in these matters might be."
Good luck as all this business moves forward.

Call me cynical...but seems too sketchy to me that someone basically taps the back end of a rare care and his "boss" has a shop that'll fix it.
Think like a thief:
Find care with $$$ parts
Get it to the shop willingly (in your case you, the owner, would bring it)
Strip it, which doesn't take long
You come to pick it up and it's gone.
