Got this '12 Raptor in today for a warranty brake job. Says pedal went low, can't stop & had to add brake fluid. Truck was towed in. Got in it to verify the customer's concern & sure enough, no brake pedal whatsoever. Pretty much had to use the parking brake to get it in my stall. Master cylinder is empty and I have fluid dripping from the right front wheel. I pull the wheels off to do a complete brake system inspection. I didn't expect to see this. Who the hell does this to a BADASS $60k+ truck?!?!?!

Where did the brake pad go???

I hate to say it though, I've actually seen worse. I've had a few vented rotors worn down into the vents. A few years ago we had a Navigator come in missing the left rear pads. Caliper piston ground part way down & out of the caliper bore, cocked & jammed between the caliper bracket & rotor. "It just started making a squeaking noise a couple days ago" he says. BULL****** What the hell is wrong with people???:censor:

How many miles were on it? What did the other side look like?

Around 33k. The first pic is of the left front. Second the right front. Outer pad completely missing. Braking with the freaking caliper housing! Lady thought it would be covered by her maintenance warranty. Needless to say, claim has been denied. Complete neglect and abuse. Truck should have been in the shop months ago for repair.

Wow another consumer screwed:shake:

Why in the world would a maintenance warranty not cover that?
Obviously it needs maintenance

My fronts will look like that soon if I don't do them.

I have new rotors but they're in the back seat:eek:

@ 33k miles this seems like excessive wear. I would hope FORD would inquire more before denying warranty on components not including pads and rotors!!

No OEM brakes should look like that at only 33K miles!!!:shake:

I have a feeling FORD is buying some crappy components these days!!

My OEM brakes on the Marauder were changed at 177K miles and could have made it to 200K but I didn't want to chance it!!:shake:

I'm sure there is more to this story!!

When I was a mechanic at a Lincoln Mercury dealer in the late 70's, had a female customer come in with "a noise in the brakes" of a Towncar.

Took the front wheels off and found the inside of both the front discs where worn down to the cooling fins! No pad material left, no backing plates. The car was being stopped by the pistons against the cooling fins of the rotor. I bet there was a lovely spark show at night.
