I came in to find a lost soul in the parking lot. This SB is here all the way from Iowa, we shall revive her from her slumber. SeanyCash, we will take good care of your new baby!

Note to owner: curless is one anal sob, he is going to do it right. Don't be surprised when he tells you about 6 other thing your going to need. And none of them will be up selling.

FYI: I was there on Saturday to meet you too :shake: slacker :shake: you were late. Maybe I'll swing over when you come to pick her up:beatnik:

Awesome! can't wait until its done.... and my gosh if you knew the hoops I had to jump through just to get that dang thing up there you wouldn't be giving me a hard time about being late! :D
It didn't help that the trailer I used to tow it up there was a two hour round trip in itself....not to mention the fact that there was a massive rainstorm for about 3 hours where I could barely see the road.

Anyways im sure shes in good hands now and I would have liked to have been there to help tear it out and install the new but things never go as planned :shake:

I was trying to not spend any more money on vehicles this month but that will be shot to heck especially when I drive the thing and realize I need to make it faster :cool4:

I hear ya, I have my own story trying to get my car to Atlanta. Still trying to forget the headaches.

Just keep the checkbook open. IMHO if your going to supercharge it skip the 410's, otherwise DO IT!!! And get a tune loaded in that baby:beer:

When you coming back for it?

SeanyCash

I would love to supercharge the car, I've always wanted a boosted 4v but never had the money....until now I suppose :D

Anyways I wanted to get 4.10's a tune and maybe some longtube headers but we'll see how things go.

Im not sure on the pick up part, it would have to be a weekend obviously, and if it was next weekend it would have to be sunday.

Well we got her out today, a few small issues but nothing too bad. The original engine had seized the cams...oil looked like crap. We opened the valve covers and took one of the timing chains loose so we could get the converter unbolted without having to drag it out with the engine. So the bottom end still rotates...maybe we can fix it later and have a spare? Next up we will clean everything up and start the reassembly process.

NICE! :D

When I saw the oil in the heads after I pulled the cam covers I knew the previous owner didn't maintain it very well :shake:

Its sad to see what the midwestern winters do to the engine bay!

Also, you can see in the picture the blue wire that was spliced in to the harness....he said he bought it like that and he disconnected it and it wouldn't start....wire to the starter possibly? Im not sure if thats going to be an issue but something to look in to maybe....

Anyways awesome progress and let me know any other stuff I should have replaced while youre at it.

Well we got the new engine sitting in the chassis today! Decided to take a look into the rear axle issues....both seals have been replaced at some time, not exactly correctly because they both leak! The pass axle is starting to de laminate, and the spider gears are coming apart as well...one of the wheel speed sensors broke when we were taking it out and one of the bolts broke off...Oh Sean, yeah, we need to talk again!

This car was bought with a bad engine...no one knows where the oil came from but I can tell you it was not changed very often! You should have seen the food I pulled out from under the back seat! In case your wondering, if you change the abs sensors you have to remove the back seat to get to the connector...yucky under there!

Well I just got back from her maiden voyage, 50 miles of perfect driving! So when we left off we had discovered that the rear end had some issues...nothing a little upgrading can't fix! Out with the 28 splines, in with 31 spline axles, carrier, 4.10's, girdled cover, new power stop brakes, new Nitto tires, SCT and Mo's tune, abs sensor, oxygen sensors...

I want to give a big shout out to Marty and the guys at Mo's for the tuner and the tune. Very nice shift points and drive-ability. Also another huge shout out once again to Tommy at Sparta Performance for getting us the gears, instal kit, and carrier.

Seriously, you guys and gals need to use our vendors here when you can. These guys take very good care of us. Its nice to have people you can count on to get the job done and done right the first time!

Once again Chris, thank you for all the help you have given me and work you have put into my car. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I can't wait to drive it! Chris gave me a call when he did the first test drive and she sounded healthy :D

On a side note, he called me back later that day to tell me the headlights did not work because.....wait for it.......the previous owner had cut all the wires to the LCM! I guess they didn't want to fix a faulty LCM? Chris is going to get that sorted out and hopefully with some luck I will be picking her up next weekend :cool4:

On another note he told me that he was pretty sure the engine had been rebuilt, and the block and heads were painted black as well.....bonus!

I bought my MM used with 92k on the clock. When I pulled my back seat to change the ABS sensor, I was prepared for the worst and was hoping I'd find some money. Hardly anything at all. Makes me wonder if the back seat was ever sat in.

Sean you are more than welcome! Thanks for entrusting her to us! By the way, we are driving her home tonight, and the lights are fixed, and the pedal repair was done. Oh and your light issue....the car had a remote start at one time, the cut wires were for that...the headlight issue....wait for it....NO BULBS!!!! :dunno::surprise:When the lights did not come on I assumed that the LCM was bad. I was going to change it out with my spare but I saw the cut wires...I stopped, well when I got under there and pulled the LCM out I saw the cut wires were just leads coming off from the LCM connector not the actual connector wires...just for grins we checked and both headlight bulbs were gone!

So today is the last day, double checked all of the fluids, cleaned her up, and filled the tank. Tomorrow we re-unite Seanycash and his Silver Birch! We are going to meet at Zack's err I mean Beckie's house and have a little get together. I can't thank Sean enough for letting us do this project for him.

Im pretty darn excited I must say. Chris, I wish there were more guys like you in my area, because you would be getting ALL of my business, thats for sure.

Next order of business for me is finding a place to park it over the winter, and cleaning the heck out of the interior. In the end it seems like I will have paid about the same as I would have for a running one with a few less miles, but my car is basically going to be like new and with some mods to boot :cool4:. I think it was the right way to go.

I'll try and post a video or something after I get it back and maybe a few pics. I've got a little time left before the snow hits and im going to be driving it all I can.

Just an update,

drove the car back 2.5 hours from Indiana......it ran GREAT! Perfect highway cruiser and the exhaust sounded great and even with 4.10s the drone was very minimal at highway speeds.

The engine runs smooth as butter and the brakes work great as well. This thing really puts you back in the seat when you hammer it, but is very comfortable to just cruise through town with. All the work Chris did to the car was excellent and you would never know it had the engine replaced (aside from how smooth it runs :cool4:)

In short I am extremely happy with the work done and how things turned out, and I will be driving this thing as much as humanly possible from now on.

Chris thanks again for the effort you put in to this car, it runs amazing. And it was nice meeting you all in person!

Heres to many miles of marauder goodness
