View Full Version : Mercury Grand Marquis Sport LSE HPP with FLOOR SHIFT

1Marauder
10-15-2013, 09:42 PM
Has anyone seen this car? I tried to search threads and found none.

Evidently more rare than Crown Vic LX Sport.... the LSE Sport Mercury Marquis HPP has a FLOOR SHIFT, WHITE gauges, our two gauges under the ash tray (lower area), FOG LAMPS, and the clock from the 300A built into the center trim piece

One I've seen pics of as CHROME 5 or six Slot Wheels, and wood trim.

I am going to look at and perhaps buy one for my son tomorrow.

AND AND ALL HELP AND GUIDANCE APPRECIATED.

Seller claims this LSE SPORT HPP has more horsepower reg stock Grand Marquis.... Even the crown vic site claims these to be extremely rare....

I will try to copy the link over--but need HELP here!

This one looks COOLER!

Not trying to be contrary in any way--researching the LSE HPP... here is a photo showing lower gauges like our. Could have been added I guess. See next few photo's of white face gauges in dash too.

I remember looking at these in the showroom in 03. There was no gauge pod. I was comparing them to the Marauder.

I don't think the wheels are factory, they look like charger wheels. I know those wheels fit on an 02 or older panther.

Not to rain on a parade, but I'd definitely carfax it and do some research. Thats a 06+ Grand Marquis front clip, Charger wheels for sure, pre-03 seats and dash trim, 06+ rear reflector, and a very evident Marauder cluster swap. Grand Marquis LSEs and Crown Vic Sports never got our gauge pod either. I'd be VERY wary of it...some cool mods, but still would want to know why so much $ was invested into a more regular Panther.

They are not factory. Though they look pretty good.

I have a set of the 03-04 17" five spoke fan blade rims new take-off from an LSE/sport. I was going to use them for snows but then never ran the Marauder for the winter. Now they sit in bags.

I have purchased a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS Premium in February of 2013. It is a nice car - I purchased it from the company I worked for for several years and drove about 50,000 miles. It is a quite nice vehicle, but it is like driving a bicycle as compared to my 2004 Marauder that won trophies at the Mercury Annual Car Shows in 2005 and again in 2007. It is the BEST and still goes to Car Shows in Tanasi.

Yeah, that car's been cobbled together. While it may be a very good job, it definitely didn't come from the factory like that.

There are or were aftermarket white gauge faces for these cars. Amazon had them listed for quite a while. Don't know if they still have them.

+1 on the CarFax.

In addition to the above anomalies ... LSE fender emblems missing.
Lincoln steering wheel. Some counter-points to your points ... seats are (could be) early build 2003 (pre-decontented era) since ... clock in dash trim (like 300A).
front seats have map pockets.

My old 1984 LTDLX ( Police package) was a specialty model.
Mercury ads say the Marquis (Not Grand) had the same offering.
There were 0 Marquis made with the police package.

I've seen a couple of these and thought it was funny they had the LSE badges when I have an LSC Mark. So does the LSE stand for Luxury Sport Edition???

I'll be a +2..... with that said it does look pretty cool. What year is it? Looking at the wide side moulding I'd say '98-'02 with the already mentioned '06 up rear facia and '03 up tail lights, which is exactly what I did to my '98 Marquis...take a look below.

I had a 2002 LSE.

Looks to me like someone did a front clip and rear fascia swap. The offset of the wheels looks to be that of a PRE-03.

For what its worth, those have to be charger wheels. Looks really good though I have to say!

I just bought a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis LSE in August. I'm going to post some pictures soon. Sweet Car!

P.S. The Mercury LSE's didn't come with fender decals. The only thing that had " LSE " on it was the front floor mats. The man who owns the 2003 LSE website put the emblems on the car after he purchased it.

Just saw a 2002 LSE in our local pickapart yard. It's the fourth one I have seen in person over the last 10 years. I pulled the entire center console assembly and LSE floor mats out. And of course, it was next to a 2004 Crown Vic Sport, so I pulled the entire center console assembly out of that as well.

I went to look at a 2003 GM with a friend of mine and it turned out to be an LSE. Had 96K miles on it. Picked it up for $3400. It amazes me how much they look like Marauders underneath. They run pretty good too.

I definately would consider one as a nice daily driver. A lot of people don't know what they are. My friend with the 2003 just took it to a Lincoln dealer in the pacific northwest for an oil change while on vacation. The service writer said someone did a great job installing a Marauder console in a GM. The guy didn't want to believe him when he told him Ford did it at the factory in 2003.

What color are the floormats ?

vegasmarauder
10-25-2013, 04:13 PM
Light Grey. Passenger side in very good shape, some light stains. Drivers side intact, but rubber is cracked on the underside and a lot of the nubs are missing. Some light stains on it too. I haven't tried to clean them yet, but it did look like a well cared for car before being crashed.

I have no idea what they are worth. I just got them because I know how rare they are and didn't want to see someone use them as a grease rag. If you interested PM me. Shipping will be from 89012 and it will prob be a 5-8 pound package.

Yea, I haven't seen but 2 in person in 10 years. There is still some stuff available. I have to make a run out there on Sunday morning. I will check this thread before going. It's getting pretty well taken apart.

Before I got my DTR, I had a 2001 GM LSE with LF interior.

Bought new, it had the clock in the dash trim (simulated wood grain), console shifter with chrome bezel, and a cubby in front of the shifter.

The seats also had the map pockets in them.

The steering wheel was almost identical to the MM, except mine was LF leather wrap with the exact buttons the Marauder has.

No tach, 120MPH speedo and dark-faced gauges.

A very nice car!

;)

Mike.

I have one 2003 LSE, green/grey colour. Handling package and performance package with dual exhaust included. Floor mounted shift floor. No gauge on central console, unlike my Marauder.

Amazingly strong car. Same specs as the Lincoln Town Car. 236000 miles already. Looks and drives like new, in all kinds of weather. Maintenance costs close to zero (so far). The only thing which looks old and worn is my driver seat, for which I desperatly look for a replacement.

I found this one on EBAY this week. It is a 2002 with 31,000 miles. My local dealer ordered quite a few of them but I wanted a Marauder more than an LSE.

I just picked up that gold one this week. Some of the things that are different from my 03 CVLX are the console, Factory duals, 3.27 gears, different shocks, Heavier anti sway bar, air springs, and homelink.

I've already put my GT500 wheels on it from the LX. I'll also be putting a CAI, slotted Rotors, switch my tune over from the LX, and put magnaflows on it while deleting the resonators and maybe a couple of cats.

It looks like it was taken well care of. Looks like all the issues (timing tensioners and axle, etc) were taken care of at the dealership. Everything on it was stock.

I'd like to put a supercharger on it to get as much out of it as I can without getting into internals.

Anyway I love it so far. Can't wait to take a long trip in it.

I went all over the country in the LX. And loved every minute of it!

Here you go!

I made a few changes to it. It was bone stock when I got it. Even the seatbelt noisemakers were still active.

Should have exhaust tips on it within a week and that will probably wrap up exterior changes for a while.

Thats the one I saw on Boulder Highway and 95 for sale. It was a nice car. I called everyone I could think of to buy it and noone had the $$. I almost bought it myself, but the wife said too many cars. It is a nice one for sure..Its the twin of one we bought for my friend in March. What are the odds (in Vegas of course) of two same LSE's turing up within months of each other?

Thanks man. I wanted a Marauder, but with the miles I drive it would be a waste to buy a limited production car that might have collector value later. We put about 90k on the Crown Vic in three years.

Panthers have to be one of the best road cars ever made. I had BMWs and Audis before all the way back to the Quattro in the 80's. I loved them around town and they were ok on long trips, but don't try to sleep in the back seat while somebody else drives. And a cash car beats a $700/mo payment any day.

We just did the math on the Crown Vic. It cost us $160 per month for every month we owned it or a little over 6 cents per mile. Gas cost about 17 cents, and insurance cost about 2 cents.

That's a total of a quarter a mile. With mileage tax writeoffs at $56.5 the CV was the first car I ever had that made me more money than it cost me.
