Air travel should not be an issue, since we are bringing our cars.

Can not answer without some more specifics on the dates of the event and a specific venue/location since that will determine the exact travel days. Lots of things to consider ....

1. Labor Day is the last big opportunity for family travel before schools start.
2. Lots of people will be on the roads for that weekend. The biggest travel days will be the Thursday & Friday before Labor Day and Monday, Tuesday and later after the holiday.
3. Traffic volume, accidents and fatalities are at increased levels on that weekend.
4. Hotel rates are higher on holiday weekends. Availability of rooms will be down because of more people who are travelling.
5. Expect more crowds at event venues, restaurants, etc. for the same reason.
6. Gas prices usually peak around Labor Day since the oil companies want to grab a big chunk of change before the end of the summer. Prices taper off somewhat after that.

Traffic, prices, hotel rates, and crowds seem to argue against a Labor Day event. I'd personally prefer NOT to be on the road with the other 42 Million travelers.

Unless there is a specific & good reason to do Labor Day, I would prefer another date to avoid the crazies, the crowds and the inflated prices.
