Here is an online article from the November 1998 issue of Car and Driver magazine, which I still have the copy of. Maybe some of you have read it before, but I am thinking alot have not.

Now this happend 15 years ago when the whale platform just came out in the panther. Non Pi engines, no 80MM maf, no zip tubes etc. No superchargers, no 18 inch rims, No mass made parts for this type car. Pricing will seem high even for 15 years ago due to having to make something work and not call up and order it. I think it is a good read and now can easily see what has happened over the years. It even mentions back in Nov. 1998 this is a prelude to what Lincoln/Mercury will issue in the the years to come, a limited prioduction Marauder.

Lounge Lizard! I know Kenny would love to have this car back in his corral!

And - remember - that CV had a C-channel frame. Ours are fully boxed (which accounts for the difference over bumps, and other things they were trying to eradicate with the frame stiffeners).

This was done in 1998..the first year of the whale frame which changed in 2003 to the present Marauder, CV, Town Car frame. This was all done when a Marauder was just some ideas on a paper

Of course, Ford can't be too torqued over the project, because its engineers are rumored to be testing their own version fitted with a 5.4-liter four-valve V-8. "The prototype is parked behind Jack Roush's shop," assures our mole. "The weird thing is, if the car is built—possibly in a 4000-unit run—it will be sold by Lincoln Mercury and called the Marauder.”

It's deja-vu all over again.
