My cousin works for the GSP and got a used 2008 P71. Does it have the capability of using a remote key fob if it didn't come with one?

Thanks

Unless they changed it on the later years, no, the P71's didn't have the provision for keyless entry.

He would need the entire keyless entry system, not just the key fob.

It was an option on later p71, not sure what year started. Key fobs without keypad on door was a p71 option
if so equipped. Have someone run an oasis.

You can add remote entry with an aftermarket kit or you could add the factory parts but if the car didn't come with it from the factory it is not as simple as buying a fob and programing the car to that fob. Years ago I got kits from JC Whitney and added remote entry to a number of my vehicles. They are still working 15 something years later.

They started offering it in 2006 on the p71. If the car has a factory disc player with the "world plug" connector on the back, it will have the appropriate wiring harness in the car.

Added remote locks and power windows to my daughters Miata. Really easy install.

As far as I know every MM came with remote entry, as did every Panther equipped with keyless entry after sometime in the mid 90's. So all you have to do is get the proper remote, or up to 4, and program them. You need the "grey" one with the FCC ID CWTWB1U313.

Programing them is as simple as turning the key on and off. Actually it is off-on(not start)-off-on-off-on-off-on as quick as you can. The doors will then lock and un-lock. Then push a button on the remote, the doors will then lock and un-lock. Then push the button on the next remote. When you have programmed as many remotes as you have, up to 4, turn the key off. If you only have one and want to add others you must program the car to accept all the remotes again.
